Somewhere in the cityTwo women sat at a small table, in the middle of the bustling cafe. One of them with the shoulder-length hair, folded arms, fixed her sharp gaze on the thick files held by the women across from her. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the chatter of patrons created a lively atmosphere around them, but their attention remained focused on the papers.
The other woman, with long, sleek hair, had her brows furrowed in concentration as she scribbled notes, her pen moving swiftly over the paper. Their discussion was intense and focused.
"Here is the list of candidates I've sorted for the final round of the workshop," said Ice Papichaya, the 31-year-old COO of the newly established Ninestar Studios. With her long hair cascading over her shoulders, she placed the papers in the center of the table. She works alongside Wanwand Jn, the CEO of the production company.
"They're good, but..." said Wanwand Jn, the CEO, with a sigh. "Still, no one has been able to truly capture the essence of Khun Nueng from my script."
"I understand that you want to bring the character from the novel to life," Ice said, taking a sip of her coffee. "But... Khun Neung is so perfect that finding someone who embodies her in real life is almost impossible."
"This is my dream... I want to make it perfect, I want to make it real like... out from the novel to life," Wanwand said, her voice strained with the pressure of the production deadline. "It's the very reason I started this company."
"We have a budget and deadlines to meet," Ice said, frustration in her voice. "We can't keep waiting and searching for the perfect fit. We already scoured the nationwide for every actress who might fit the role."
Wanwand sighed, taking a deep breath before sipping her coffee. Both of them glanced at their phones, falling into a moment of silence to cool down.
While scrolling through her phone, Ice's eyes lit up with excitement. She thrust the device toward the young CEO, saying, "I think I've found the perfect fit for Khun Neung. This person just returned to Thailand from overseas, and I heard that her contract with her current company is about to end."
Wanwand took the phone and scrolled through the profile, her expression intense as she studied the screen. It took her a moment to respond, but despite her composed demeanor, a small, reluctant smile appeared on her face. "This is precisely the masculine, alluring presence we need. She has the grace to fit the role of Khun Neung, M.L. Sipakorn. Why didn't we consider her sooner?"
"She was overseas when we first did the audition for the casts, and as you know, we might not be able to afford her. She's Miss Grand Thailand 2016 and has been in the entertainment industry for years, though recently she seems to have stepped back from the spotlight." explained the COO.
"P'Ice, I need your help" Wanwand said, gripping Ice's hands with a serious face. "Whatever it takes, we need to get this person. She's exactly what we need."
"I know someone who can help me get in touch with her," Ice said, gently tapping the back of Wanwand's hand to reassure her. "Leave it to me."
"Thank you... Thank you so much," the CEO said, her eyes filled with gratitude as she looked at the COO. "I'm deeply thankful for you to join me in this small company to make my dream comes true."
"At first, I really liked your script..." Ice stopped for a moment and acted like she's thinking hard, "But now I'm thinking my paycheck should be doubled." said Ice jokingly with a playful grin, "This meal's on you then."
"Yeah... Yeah..." said Wanwand nonchalantly while looking at the blank space for the main cast on the paper, "What was her name again?"
"... Faye Malisorn." Ice answered.
