After the ceremony, as students celebrated and took pictures, Caleb made his way toward Elena. He saw her again, this time talking to a different guy. Caleb's heart sank. "now o never," he muttered to himself, gathering his courage.
He waited until Elena was alone, standing by the school garden. Taking a deep breath, he approached her.
"Elena," he called out softly.
Elena turned, her eyes lighting up when she saw him. "Caleb! Congratulations!" she said, pulling him into a hug.
"Congrats din," he replied, his voice slightly shaky. "Pwede ba kitang makausap saglit?"
"Sure, ano yun?" Elena asked, tilting her head in curiosity.
Caleb took a deep breath, his heart racing. "Elena, matagal na kitang gusto," he began, his voice trembling. "Simula pa nung una kitang nakita, alam ko na espesyal ka. And seeing you today, talking to others, made me realize na ayokong masayang ang pagkakataon na 'to."
Elena's eyes widened, and she opened her mouth to speak, but Caleb continued.
"I like you, Elena. I want to be with you, habang buhay."
