Chapter 35

A/N: Just a short update. Author is busy with work. I will try to update more once I'm free.

"How's she?"Nam asked the Doctor, who came out after examining Freen. They have been waiting outside for almost twenty minutes having no idea what's happening.

"Which one of you is her partner?" The doctor asked instead.

Nam and Heng looked at each other in confusion.

"Neither of us." Heng answered.

"Then you better call them. I'd like to have a word." The doctor says bitterly.

"She is indisposed at the moment." Nam blurts out.

"Out of town." Heng adds.

"Work." Both of them says at the same time.

The doctor looks between them genuinely confused, "Which one is it exactly?" She asked raising her eyebrows in question.

"All of the above?" Nam says shyly.

They both stare as if awaiting an explanation. The doctor shook her in displeasure.

"She's extremely malnourished for her condition. She needs food, a proper diet, and enough water. None of which seems to be in her system. These early stages are extremely important despite what you may think."

Nam sighs thinking about all the times she had to practically force Freen to eat something. She should have been more adamant.

"What do you mean by her condition?" Heng suddenly asks and that catches Nam's attention, who also wonders for a minute and curses herself for missing that point.

The doctor looks between the two, squinting her eyes, "Who are you two exactly?"

"We are her friends." Nam states firmly as if trying to prove a point.

"Well, your friend is pregnant." The doctor says.

Their jaw dropped in disbelief. They both stood there for a minute unblinking, trying to process what they had just been told.

"What?" "How!!" They asks at the same time.

The doctor raises a perfect eyebrow, "You're asking me?" She teases.

"Sorry!"

"If her partner is a woman then I guess they might have been trying." The doctor says.

"Yeah." Heng says and Nam looks at him confused. She had no idea they were trying so how does he?

"Judging by your reaction, I suppose she didn't know either?" The doctor asks.

"No! It's just that they have been going through something and things haven't been easy between them." Heng says.

"Well, her partner should have thought about that before getting her pregnant." The doctor criticizes.

"Can we see her?" Nam asks.

"Sure. And break the news, it's better when it comes from a friend rather than from me or a nurse." She says and walks away.

Once the doctor is out of sight, Nam abruptly turns to Heng, "You knew they were trying?" She asks, her voice a pitch high.

"What?" His eyes widen in surprise, "NO!"

"But you just said..." Nam starts.

"For her to leave us alone." Heng says cutting her off.

After a moment of silence, "Do you seriously think they have been trying?" Nam asks.

"Weren't they having problems before coming back?" Heng asks instead of answering.

"So what are you suggesting?" Nam questions.

He doesn't answer, and they share a look. A look too obvious and Nam suddenly looks away shaking her head,

"No! No way!! Freen would never do that to Becky. After everything that happened with Saint, I don't think she would ever cheat." She states firmly.

"Let's just talk to her." Heng says gesturing Nam to follow him inside the room.
