Chapter 10Emma’s POV
I wake up to the smell of chocolate chip pancakes, it’s one of my favorite foods. I rush out of bed and begin my morning routine. After brushing my teeth and showering, I grab my outfit of the day. I get dressed in no time, quickly making my way down the stairs to get to breakfast. As I rush down the stairs, I trip when I get close to the bottom but luckily I was able to get my arm around the banister to keep from falling. I can feel my arm starting to form a bruise.
“Wosh, flow down there slugger. Breakfast isn’t going anywhere.” David jokes.
I giggle knowing he’s right, but I couldn’t help myself.
“Since you have so much energy, can you help set the table for me, please?” Asks Mary.
“Of course, Mom.” I grab three plates, forks and cups setting them in their place. Then mom walks over and pours us all some orange juice. Dad walks adding pancakes to all our place and setting the maple syrup in the center.
“This is absolutely delicious, Mom.”
“Thank you, Sweetheart.”
“So Em, how was your date?” David asks.
“It wasn’t a date, but it was wonderful. After I had set everything up, she was a bit late. I was nervous about her not showing up. But, it wasn’t her fault. It turned out she couldn’t get out on time. We spent the night gazing at the stars and just talking for hours. Something different happened this time though. Normally she doesn’t let me ride back with her after I offer to. She gets worried about me getting caught. Instead, she made a compromise and rode back with me here. She left after giving me a hug and making sure I was home safe.”
“Okay, I know you said it wasn’t a date, but are you sure she knows that? The entire evening sounds very romantic, and she brought you home.” Says Mary.
“Yes, Mom. She already knows who her soulmate is. It’s actually how we met. However, that’s a story for another time.” I say softly.
“Did she tell you who it was?” Asks Mary.
“No, she didn’t.”
“Then how can you be sure that you aren’t her soulmate?” Mom questions.
“You’re right, Mom. Hey, I’m going to go out after breakfast. I should be back by noon.” I say finishing up my food quickly. I grab my coat. “Bye Mom, Bye Dad. I love you.” I say, giving them a kiss.
“I love you, too,” they say in unison.
I walk over to Cookie. “Hey there, girl. Are you ready for a ride?” I say softly. I ride out to the forest and summon Tink, by calling out “Tinkerbell” three times. Once she appears I ask, “Who is Regina’s soulmate?”
“I can’t tell you that, but I can see she has more in her heart for you than friendliness. So I’ll give you a riddle.” she says.
“Okay.”
“You always see her, but never touch her. She’s always there, but you see her.” Tink says. Then she vanishes before I can ask her what that means. On the ride back home, I can’t help but feel confused. I mumble the riddle to myself trying to make sense of it. I’ll just ask Mom about it when I get back. She’s great at riddles.
