The Chance Encounter

Part Eighteen

Emma’s POV

I make it home from Regina’s when Mom asks “where were you last night?”

“Sorry, Mom. I stayed at Regina’s last night.”

“Okay, just try to tell me next time when you’re planning to stay. I was worried about you.”

“I’m sorry, Mom. I will.”

“Did you have breakfast?”

“Yes, we had breakfast together with Snow and Cora.”

“Ok, good. Can you go to the market later today? I need a few things.”

“Sure, Mom.”

-Time Jump to Later Today-

“I’ll head to the morning now, bye Mom, I love you.”

“Be safe, I love you, too.”

“I’m walking through the market when I hear a voice say “hey, how did your sleep over with Regina go?” It was Eddy.

“I figured Regina would have told you about it earlier, I heard you ask her for the tea this morning.”

“Well, you heard right. But, I was teasing Regina about it earlier and she said she wouldn’t tell me, because of how much I tease her about you.”

I laugh at him a little. “Fine, we met up like we normally do. When I was about to leave her for the night, she invited me to stay since it was late. She told me where to go to get to her room, then went to find you to tell you she was back. She said she would’ve brought me along, but she knew you would eternally tease her about it. I bumped into Cora on the way to Regina’s room, so we spoke briefly. I teased her about being a bookworm, then we went to bed.”

“Wait, you met Cora? How did that go?”

“It actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. And since you’re here, can I ask you for a favor?”

“Sure Ems, what’s up.”

“Can you help me surprise Regina tomorrow?”

“I’m guessing you already have a plan for this surprise?”

“One plan.” We talked about the plan briefly to get his thoughts.”

“That is just crazy enough that it might work. Let’s do it.”

After agreeing on the plan, I finish up my shopping and then begin heading home.

-Time Skip to the Next Day-

I stop on my way to grab a bouquet of flowers before waiting by the gate for Edward. He shows up shortly after I get there.

“Okay, you go put Cookie in the stables and I’ll sneak into Regina’s room and let down the ladder” he says.

“Okay, let’s do this.” I rode Cookie to the stables and put her where she was last time. Then, I walk to the spot below Regina’s room. I climb up the ladder clutching the bouquet of flowers with one hand. Once I make it to the top, I pull up the ladder and I sit on her bed waiting patiently for her.

Regina walks into her room not too long after with a shocked expression clutching her chest.

“Emma?! How long have you been here and why?”

“About 10 minutes or so. I wanted to surprise you. Oh and I got these flowers for you.”

“These are beautiful, thank you. Let’s put these in a vase.”

“You’re welcome, I love you.”

“I love you, too, babe.”

We spend our time talking about how our day went.

“Edward actually helped me with my little surprise, you know.”

“Of course he did.”

“How was your day?”

“The usual Queenly duties, making sure Snow is doing everything she is supposed to.”

“Alright, as much as I love our chats, I have to go home now. I told my Mom I would tell her before I stay over so she doesn’t worry.”

“Okay, good night, babe. I love you. And, thank you for tonight.”

“Anything for you, babe. Good night, baby. I love you, too.”

I give her a quick kiss and climb down the ladder. I make my way to get Cookie out of the stall and then ride home.
