"Uncle J, are you even listening?" Angel spoke making me look up from my phone and over at her.
"My bad, what did you say?"
"Is this going to take long my hair appointment is at 12 and I don't want to be late."
"Katrina ain't gonna trip on you." I shook my head as I sent her a text letting her know Angel might be late and it was on me.
"Um, how do you know her name?" She leaned and turned to look at me.
"I met her at the gym and we had a conversation. I mentioned that you get your hair done there."
I shrugged my shoulders."Just a conversation? Because you're real cheesy today." She raised her eyebrow at me and I sucked my teeth.
"You're just like your nosey ass pops. You know that Angel?" I turned to face her with a mug on my face. Not only was she a splitting image of my brother she also acted just like him.
"I learned from the best." She shrugged her shoulders. I shook my head at her as I pulled into the driveway of my baby's mother a house.
"I'll be right back," I told her before getting out of the car and making my way towards the house.
"Oh, I thought you were gonna call her." Her best friend answered the door after I rang the bell.
"Man, Candice, move from the door. This ain't your damn house." I mugged her as she blocked the doorway.
"Whatever, she's getting dressed so you can wait in here I guess." She mumbled while breaking her neck to look in my car.
"Daddy! You're here!" Namani instantly greeted me as I walked into the house and saw her sitting in the living room. Like always Kenya had her fully dressed and her hair braided up so I could just pick her up and be on her way.
"Hi Nami, put your Crocs on so we can go." I kissed her forehead and pointed towards the Minnie Mouse Crocs I brought her for Christmas.
"You should go tell Kenya you're taking her child," Candice spoke as I picked up her backpack which was filled with nothing but toys because anything she needed was already at my house.
"You should mind your business," I told her because I already texted Kenya letting her know I was there before I even got out of my car.
"Don't talk to me like that! You're always being rude with your disrespectful self." She rolled her eyes.
"Candice go on. I don't disrespect no one that doesn't disrespect me. You wanna co-parent with us so bad." I shook my head as Kenya came down the stairs with a confused look on her face.
"What are y'all arguing about?"
"Tell your girl to mind her business. I don't know why she's down here questioning me about my child." I looked at Kenya before calling Namani who was in the kitchen.
"Whatever, you know he doesn't like me anyway." Candice waved her hand to dismiss the conversation.
"No, the fuck I don't."
"Y'all stop, not in front of Mani," Kenya told both of us as Namani ran into the living room.
"Tell your mom you'll see her later," I told her because I was ready to get out of this house. I watched her run over to Kenya who gave her a hug and kiss
"Love you." She told her.
"You Love you too."

"Can I take you out?" I asked Katrina as we sat on FaceTime together. We started out talking on the phone but after a while, I wanted to see her pretty ass face. We'd been talking for a couple of weeks and I was starting to like her more each time we spoke to each other.
"When?"
"Shit whenever you're free. I can make time for you whenever." I shrugged my shoulders.
"I have tomorrow night and then my son's going with his dad for the weekend. I don't know what works for you."
"I know you work on Friday so Saturday night?" I asked since Mani would be with her mother's family for the weekend.
"Yeah, that's fine with me. Let me just put it on my calendar." She put me on pause and I'm guessing she went to her calendar.
"Damn, I gotta set up appointments to see you?" I joked when her face appeared back on the screen.
"I just have to remind myself! Cause you'll be real mad if you set up a date and I'm sleeping in my bed." She giggled into the phone.
"Nah, I hear you between being a mom and a business owner anything can slip your mind."
"Mommy, can you sign this please?" I heard her son's voice making me go quiet.
"What's this for?" I heard her ask him as she flipped through the pages.
"So I can go to the Zoo with my class but I need money too." He spoke and I watched her raise her eyebrows.
"Thirty dollars for the zoo? What zoo are they taking y'all to?" She mumbled as she read over what I
assumed is a permission slip and trip fee."I don't know but I want to go."
"I'll give you the money later when I go to the bank because you're gonna need a little more to spend." She told him as she handed the paper and pen.
"Okay, thank you!"
"Z! Come back and get this juice box please."
"Sorry!" He came back into the room to collect his trash before I heard her door close behind him.
"My bad but did you hear that? Thirty dollars for the damn zoo. I mean I have it but damn." She picked her phone back up and shook her head.
"These schools be getting over on us. I had to pay the same thing for Mani to go to the aquarium. I was like thirty dollars to see some damn fish when I can bring her to the pet store for free.
"No way, not the pet store." She busted out laughing but I was so serious.
"I'm for real she came home after the trip complaining about how it stunk and the lunch was nasty. I could've told her that and kept all my damn money."
"Leave her alone. The aquarium does stink but I do like looking at the penguins and stuff. Is she a girly girl?"
"Yeah, she's on and off." Most of her cousins are boys so naturally she has her tomboy ways but sometimes it's too much and she's like fuck this."
"Awe, she gives girly girl with her beads and everything. Do you have a lot of siblings?"
"Most definitely but I have two brothers and a sister."
"Are they older or younger?"
"I'm the second oldest and everyone else is younger. Do you have any siblings?"
"An older sister but I haven't talked to her in a while. She moved to Philly when I was like sixteen."
"Damn, Philly is so random." I said making her laugh.
We talked on the phone for a while longer until my alarm went off letting me know it was time to get Namani from school.
"I'll call you tonight and you better answer." I teased because she never answered her phone.
"Mmh, I'll think about it."
