3rd person POV:
Jungkook saw it in the way he looked at him. The way his eyes would always be blank, as if hiding the mysteries of the world but would start shining with pure glee the moment he looked at him.
He saw the way he would be shaking sometimes whenever he would plead to let him stay for the night after a mere conversation with his mother, but would melt right in his embrace as if he was his safety blanket.
He saw the way he would touch him as if he was the most precious thing life had given him whenever they'd lay in bed with each other, with utmost sincerity and adoration.
He saw the way he would always throw up every single time after coming back from the godforsaken dates that he kept going to, again and again for some reason he never told jungkook.
Jungkook saw how his cheeks would be tinted red whenever he caught him staring at him when he wasn't looking.
The way he would always be touching him in some way, like laying his head on his lap or his shoulder, holding his hand gently, burying his head in his neck as if he was trying to hide from the world, holding onto him in a tight embrace as if he was his anchor, as if he was the only force who could ground him.
He saw the way there was some kind of guilt swimming in his eyes whenever they'd go to bars with their friends every once in a while who'd go off to finding girls for the night and pulled taehyung along with them while jungkook always refused their offer and decided to stay in his own corner. He saw how he'd let the girls kiss him if they wanted to just for the sake of fitting in, he saw how he never kissed back and wouldn't even look in their eyes.
He noticed how even though just as a 'friend', even when he was hesitant and his nerves were killing him, he made an effort to let him meet his mother and his friends and family, even when he didn't have to. He saw how he was shaking in his boots but giggling in excitement when they all liked jungkook and he slowly got closer with all of them as if he was a part of their family.
Jungkook saw how he didn't smile much but he looked like the happiest person ever when he was with him, the way his lips formed a box whenever jungkook would do something funny, the ways his eyes crinkled at the corners and his nose would scrunch.
He remembered how taehyung didn't know an ounce of cooking but he learnt it and started making at least one meal for him everyday, when he once mentioned that he missed homecooked food since his family lived in Busan while he lived in Seoul for studies and how he would get so shy when jungkook would compliment his cooking.
He remembered the way the man would literally worship him in bed, touching every part of him just right, he knew how to break him apart and put him back in place and then take care of him like no one ever did. The way he'd whisper sweet nothings in his ear, the way he would praise him and comfort him.
He saw the genuine pain in his eyes whenever jungkook would cry to him because of the immense stress of studies among other things, and he'd struggle to comfort him as he never was much of an expressive person anyways but still would try his best even if it was hard for him.
Did some mere petnames mean that much when taehyung would call him all sorts of endearments like koo, kookie, jungkookie, bunny, koobun and many more?
Did mere three words mean that much that he didn't see what was right infront of him at the right time?
Did a label mean that much when this was the relationship they had?
Did he make a mistake?
