Hela cut Tyr's beard off as a trophy, then kicked his body down into the darkness, right where that asshole threw me less than an hour ago.

"Yggdrasil, dinner!" I said in a sing-song tone. We couldn't see what happened down there, but heard the distant sound of a huge jaw snapping closed.

A deep, tired silence fell on us. I was still leaning on Hela, who was staring at the Sun, which was already inching back towards the horizon, about to set once again. She seemed deep in thought, and her gaze wandered to Fenrir, who seemed very relieved now that we got rid of Tyr, but was still curled up on the ground, shivering ever so slightly.

Hela's brows furrowed in concern and we walked over to her giant pet. She placed a gentle hand on Fenrir's head, her slender fingers sinking into his fur.

"It's alright" she mumbled soothingly.

We turned towards the Sun once again. As I stared at it, starting to zone out, I felt Hela's eyes on me, so I looked at her. The gaze I was met with was questioning.

Would you support me in my endeavours? Would you approve? is what she was asking.

"Please don't" I broke the silence. "I understand your anger, but I believe Asgard can be a better place now that both Odin and Tyr are gone."

Hela's expression turned into a pensive one. She appeared to be genuinely considering my request.

"You already have Hel to rule over" I added.

"I was banished to Hel by that man who called himself my father. I don't want that place" she scoffed in disgust.

"I understand. So you want Asgard, right?"

"I cannot have Asgard. Thor has proved in the past that he would rather see it burn than let me have it. I do not blame him, it is mutual" she chuckled darkly, but then her gaze softened. She sighed as she pulled me closer. "However... you said you liked it here. I would hate to destroy something you like."

"Thank you" I whispered, burying my face into the crook of her neck, inhaling her scent.

So many things have happened since we parted on bad terms before the ball, yet only half a day had passed, if not less. Something I will never be able to wrap my head around.

Though I was more tired than ever and we both almost lost our lives, as I stood there, in her embrace I realised I wouldn't change a thing. We were standing, and so was Asgard, and I felt closer to her than ever. Some unspeakable bond formed between us that day, knocking down every barrier created by our different upbringing or age gap.

Earlier I really felt like we desperately needed physical intimacy to connect, but now that we were chest to chest and heart to heart, it became something optional. Not the next step, not a life-changing event, and definitely not something that would build or break our relationship. Our differences were now trivial.

"We could build our own kingdom, somewhere out of Asgard's reach, but close enough to visit" Hela suggested.

"With the Bifrost, everything is close enough to visit" I chuckled.

"True. We have quite a lot of options then, don't we?" she smiled back.

"Let's make plans later. I want to go back to the ball and have snacks" I lifted my head off her shoulder and looked up at her.

"Alright, then, Fenrir shall take us back." Hela leaned her head down until our noses were touching. "Thank you for everything."

"I should be saying the same" I responded before our lips met.
