《TW: Violence》

"Akira, I am sorry.." Ida tried his best but was pushed away harshly.
"You know, your sorry means nothing to me now" Akira sneered, wiping away the tears. "It was our anniversary... one day...one day in the whole year I thought I could have you to myself"
"Don't be so stubborn, it's not my fault they called me-"
"Yeah, the problem lies in me! What a crybaby you are Akira!"
Ida sighed, "You know how much pressure I have from above,"
"Why it's only you who has pressure? Why not your juniors? Why not your seniors?! Among all this, they have time to take their wives on honeymoon, but you... you have a lot of pressure I see"
"I will try to come early-"
"You know what? I don't care! Even if you don't come back today"
Some Words cut deeper than knives, Ida swallowed the guilt and left with moist eyes. Akira tried to comfort himself, but the tears didn't stop. The freshly prepared dinner rotted on the table.

Sirens wailed in a solitary lane which was engulfed with darkness and silence. A few people gathered around a young woman's body which rested on the ground. Her beautiful skirt was covered in dirt and blood and her face, which she might have adored, was burnt to the bone.
Ida stared at the unrecognizable face, this was going to give him nightmares.
"Inform the forensic headquarters" he ordered.
Observing the people gathered around, the majority of them were factory workers, who lived in the cheap apartments nearby, "Who found the body?" He asked,
A man spoke out in a timid voice, "All of us... we were returning from our late shift.. and then we found her feet dangling from the dumpster.."
"When does your shift end?"
"7:30 pm"
"And when did you find the body?"
"Around 8:00"
He sighed and signaled one of the constables,
"Take the information about their home address, names, and factory number"
"Yes sir"

The clock struck 9. Ida took a sip of his hot coffee as he observed the photographs taken at the crime scene.
A soft knock was heard at the door.
"Tommie.. come in"
Sub-inspector-Central police station-Tokyo, Tommie assisted Ida in all of his cases. They didn't know each other well before, even though they studied in the same school.
"Good evening Sir, here are the details given by the workers, the forensic file will be on your table tomorrow"
"Thank you,"
Tommie keenly observed Ida every day. There was nothing to dislike about him. His personality, his discipline, and the way he talked and managed the entire department, all of them were commendable.
"May I say something, sir?"
"Sure, go ahead"
"You always inspire me to be a better version of myself" Tommie smiled, but something seemed odd about it.
"Huh? What's with the sudden compliment?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to tell you. You are the most hard-working person I have ever met, like, It's technically past your worktime, yet you are here, in the office"
The subtle smile faded from Ida's face.
"You could have told your juniors to handle it, but you didn't, you are a great officer"
All these words made Ida's chest heavy, was he wrong all along?
"I think you should go home now, it is getting late,"
"Oh! I forgot something," Tommie placed a cardboard box on Ida's table, it had the police station's address on it, and there it was, written with a black marker, "To Ida Matsumoto"
"What is this?"
"I don't know, someone couriered it,"
"Huh? That's strange..."
"Well, I think I should leave now" Tommie bowed and left the room.
Ida opened the small cardboard box to find a red pendrive in it. Curiosity taking over, he inserted the pen drive into his laptop.
"Am untitled video?" Suspicion grew, and the room seemed colder.
Ida clicked on the video, which was just the beginning of his torment. A horrifying scream echoed through laptop speakers. A familiar woman fought for her life but failed in front of a tattooed masked man. Without any mercy, the man hit her head on a marble counter, dragging her across it, he placed her head into the oven.
A shiver went down Ida's spine as he closed the video with shaky hands. The woman was none other than Inspector Lily who was involved with him in cracking the recent drug storehouse down.
Suddenly, the lights went out.
"No..no..no..." Ida's heartbeat raced. His body trembled with fear.
His room was still lightened a bit due to the pale moonlight but at the end, it was pitch black outside.
"Hello?! Is anybody there?!"
A faint whistling and footsteps were heard approaching, giving him goosebumps.
Panicking, he started looking for his gun, opening and closing the drawers. Alas, before he could find one, his the corner of his eye noticed a figure standing at the door, eerily smiling at him.
With a heavy sigh, he mustered up the courage to face the tall figurine.
The young officer stared into the darkness in disbelief. Fear reflected in his eyes. His face had turned pale.
"Ida.. why do you look like you just saw a ghost?" The man in black mocked.
Ida stood still, he seemed lost for any words.
The man approached the terrified officer, sliding his arm around his waist he pinned him against the wall.
"Do you know how much I have missed you?" He said in an alluring tone, giving him a small peck on his lips.
".......Dekisugi?" Ida asked, horrified.
The intruder clicked his tongue,
"Ida...Dekisugi is dead....he died a long time ago" he whispered,
Ida stared in disbelief, he didn't know how to react, this all seemed nothing but a nightmare. Mustering up the courage, he spoke out,
"If he is dead, then who are you?"
Dekisugi smirked, sneaking out a gun from his back pocket, he pressed it against Ida's crotch,
"Your death"
