MAJOR TW: SOME THOUGHTS OF DEPRESSION, SUICIDE, ETC

ONESHOT 2: WINTERWATCHER

Winter POV:

It was dark.

Cold, empty and dark.

I felt nothing, I heard nothing, I saw nothing.

I was dead.

I loved it.

It felt good to escape the heavy pressure and burden that life gave me.

It felt good to escape the weight of my family looking down on me in shame.

At last, I felt peace.

I felt peace for one of the first times in my life.

I didn't feel the heavy weight on my chest.

I didn't feel the nagging feeling that I wasn't good enough.

I was still and cold, but I felt free.

But then I woke up.

Back in the crappy world filled with traitors and liars and...

Dragons.

Horrible, cruel, murderous, backstabbing dragons.

I sighed, and my breath turned into frost in front of me.

I turned my head and saw Qibli in his bed, shivering uncontrollably with a blanket wrapped around his body.

Huh, weird, he's usually an early riser. Not a cheerful one, but still.

I glanced at the circular window on the wall opposite our beds, and saw that the sun hadn't even risen yet. I sighed and sat up, stretching my stiff wings. I swallowed the rising lump in my throat before it could expand and grow bigger.

Like my problems.

Great, another miserable day that I have to survive.

I sighed again and stood up, embracing the familiar feel of the cold. I couldn't believe that mum and dad (if I should even call them that...) sent me here. A place to socialise. My absolute least favourite thing ever.

And on top of all that, I have to see dragons everyday.

Horrible, cruel, murderous, backstabbing dragons.

It's been a few months since I came, but it still sucks just as much as it did on my first day. Maybe it even sucks more.

I walked out of the dorm, passing several other dorms filled with snoring students. There wasn't anyone awake at this hour, since it was practically the middle of the night. The stars were twinkling in the sky ahead. I exhaled softly and my breath appeared in front of me.
