The room started to fill with people who were ready for a horror film night. Leo was sat on the edge of the long sofa with Rex sat next to him, and Victoria sat next to Rex. Besides Victoria was a silent Sophie. It was a little squished but Leo couldn't care less about that. He was just sat there on the couch anxiously waiting for Damon's arrival. Apparently Aaron had invited him over and Leo knew that meant the pair would need to talk it out.
Leo sat in the dimly lit living room, the echoes of his interactions with Aaron, Sophie, and the others replaying in his mind. The tension and confrontation had left him feeling like he was teetering on the edge of a breakdown. He had thought that coming home would provide some sort of solace, but instead, it felt like he had just opened Pandora's box. The silence of the house, once comforting, now felt like it was pressing down on him, suffocating him with the weight of his mistakes.
He couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that gnawed at him. The relief he felt after talking to Aaron was quickly overshadowed by the coldness in Sophie's voice. It was clear that things weren't going to be okay just because he wanted them to be. It would take more than words to mend the bonds he had strained, if they could be mended at all, that is.
His mind was a storm of confusion. The clarity he'd hoped to gain from coming back had instead been replaced with more questions. Was he really struggling with his sexuality? He had always considered himself straight, but then why did he kiss Damon? Was it a moment of confusion, or was there something deeper at play?
Leo's thoughts spiraled, each one leading to another question without any answers. His chest felt tight, and he found it hard to breathe as he grappled with the conflicting emotions inside him.
He hadn't meant to hurt anyone, but he had. He hadn't meant to push his friends away, but he did. He hadn't meant to betray Aaron's trust, but that was exactly what he'd done. It was a mess. A big fat giant mess that he had created, and one that he wasn't sure how to fix.
As soon as the doorbell rang, Aaron sprang up from the other sofa where he was sat next to Jessica and sprinted out of the room and into the hallway so he could greet his beloved boyfriend. Leo took a shaky break and glanced around at his housemates who all had their eyes on him already. They all knew exactly what was going on and it caused him to feel so embarrassed.
"Fuck sakes," he muttered to himself. He forced himself to get up from the sofa, hating the way every single one of his housemates stared at him as he did so. Sitting in the silence, wallowing in self-pity, wouldn't solve anything. He needed to confront his thoughts and feelings head-on. Maybe talking to Damon would provide some clarity, though the thought of facing him filled Leo with dread.
Slowly, he made his way into the hallway. He was met with the sound of soft spoken words and lips pressing against each other softly. He quickly looked away and cleared his throat. Damon and Aaron turned around and surprise and instantly, Leo's eyes met Damon's.
The hallway suddenly felt much narrower as Leo's gaze locked with Damon's. The weight of their unfinished conversation hung heavily between them, making the moment even more tense. Aaron smiled stiffly and stepped aside, still holding Damon's hand.
"Leo," Damon said quietly, being the first to speak. His voice was steady but with an undercurrent of something unspoken. Leo couldn't tell if it was anger, confusion, or something else entirely. His heart pounded in his chest, and he felt a familiar knot tightening in his stomach.
"Hey," Leo managed to reply, his voice rough and unsteady. His throat was dry, and he could feel the eyes of everyone in the room boring into his back, even though they were still in the living room.
Aaron looked between the two of them, sensing the tension but unsure of its origin. "I'll go wait inside. Give you guys some time to talk it out," he said, trying to diffuse whatever was brewing.
