Leo quietly slipped into his student house, the familiar creak of the door echoing through the empty hallway, making him cringe internally. He paused for a moment, listening intently for any signs of activity from his housemates. The muffled sound of voices drifted from the living room, prompting Leo to tiptoe past the open doorway, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn't want to be seen. Not right now. He couldn't face them at all.
As he made his way up the stairs and towards his bedroom, Leo kept his footsteps light, mindful of the need to remain undetected by his housemates. His friends? He didn't even know anymore. Everything was going wrong and it was all his fault. The tension in the air was palpable as he moved through the dimly lit hallway, the shadows casting a veil of secrecy over his actions.
Reaching his room, Leo quickly gathered a few essentials into a bag, his movements swift and precise. He didn't dare linger for fear of attracting attention, his thoughts consumed by the urgency of his escape. He didn't want to stay here tonight. He couldn't. It was too... much. Did the housemates know what Leo had done to Damon? The smaller brunette boy told him that he hadn't said anything, but what about Aaron? Maybe he told Rex, who then told Victoria, who then told the girls. Eventually, Sophie would find out what Leo did and he didn't need her judgement right now.
With the bag slung over his shoulder, Leo stole one last glance around his room, the memories of shared laughter and late-night conversations flooding his mind. The weight of his decision bore down on him, the ache of loneliness gnawing at his heart as he prepared to leave behind the comfort of familiarity.
As he crept back into the hallway, Leo could hear the faint murmur of voices growing louder, signaling the presence of his housemates nearby. With bated breath, he edged towards the front door, every creak of the floorboards magnified in the stillness of the house. He heard a familiar voice. It was Aaron's. The boy was speaking quite quickly, but his words were muffled and Leo couldn't really make out what he was saying. But he didn't want to stick around and find out.
With a final glance over his shoulder, Leo slipped out into the cool evening air, the door closing softly behind him. The weight of his decision hung heavy in the silence, the emptiness of the night mirroring the ache in his chest.
Making his way to the nearby park, Leo sought solace in the quiet solitude of the evening. After having nearly fallen asleep in all of his lectures, he wanted nothing more than to get into his bed and sleep. But being at home was too awkward for him right now and he couldn't face his friends. He didn't know how much they knew. He needed to be alone. Was he too quick to shut people out? Maybe. But he didn't know what else to do.
Sitting on a brown, lonely bench beneath the flickering light of the park, he let the weight of his confusing emotions wash over him, the sadness of his solitude enveloping him like a heavy blanket. Swallowing thickly, Leo tried everything in his power not to think about anyone but himself. But unfortunately his mind swirled with images of Damon. And Aaron. And Sophie.
As he gazed around at his surroundings, Leo felt a sense of disconnection from the world around him. The distant hum of traffic and the rustle of leaves seemed to fade into the background, leaving him alone with his thoughts. In the stillness of the night, Leo reached for his phone, the glow of the screen illuminating his face in the darkness. With a hesitant touch, he opened his messages and found Dante's contact, his thumb hovering over the keyboard as he struggled to find the words to convey the tumult of emotions swirling within him.
After a moment of hesitation, Leo began to type, his fingers moving slowly as he poured out his heart to his friend. He didn't know what he expected Dante to say, but in that moment of vulnerability, reaching out felt like the only lifeline he had left.
