Priceless
⌁We park the jet on a hill to spend the night, it's nice to stay in one place sometimes. Everyone is asleep except Dr.Banner. I decide to be on my way.
"Where are you going?" Dr.Banner asks me as I walk out the jet in my jeans and hoodie. Going to meet our opponent and talk about ways to sabotage the Avengers, That's what. Just kidding, I need this job.
"On a walk. Wanna come?" He'll say no.
"No, I'm good." See.
"Are you sure?" Just for assurance, make the conversation more natural. I'm also concerned, he's been trough a lot today, the whole team has. They just need a break, maybe a walk will do them some good.
"Yeah, have fun. On your walk." I nod.
"Always do." I exit and don't stop walking until 20 minutes have passed. Then I stop and press the red button on the side, I think that's what I'm supposed to do. Usually your not supposed to press the red button. Oh well, now I just sit and wait. I sit against a tree as I do.
⌁
Sweat starts to bead up on my skin, why am I wearing a hoodie? I slide it off and take a breath of relief. 37 minutes have passed by and he's still not here. I think I just set a town on fire instead of activated a tracking device. Maybe I should just leave, but I want to wait longer. I want him to be here like he said he would.
⌁
15 more minutes, it's cooled off now but heat inside me still boils for sitting here and thinking he'd actually show. Fuck him, I get up and walk back. Passing through trees and hopping over logs like I did on the way here.
Maybe he's a dick like every other guy, no different that the ones who cheated on me or left me for someone else. I feel a weight in my shoulder, literally, and turn around. Maybe I'm overthinking it.
"Hi." Pietro says standing tall above me. His broad shoulders hunched in while his hands rest in his pockets. God how I love that jacket.
"Where were you?" I try to sound angry, but I can't be angry at him. It didn't work, it didn't fit. Instead I said it softer than I intended and sounded more... sad. His facial expression changes and the fire in his eyes is smelt down by my comment.
"Sorry, I got lost on my way here, but I left as soon as you pressed that button." To see that light go out was heartbreaking, so I decide to cheer us both up with a smile and a nod.
"It's fine, I didn't expect you to be fast." My joke pulls a laugh out of him, even though it wasn't that funny. "So what are we going to do?"
"I don't know, I didn't think that through."
"You had a whole half an hour to think about it." I mess with him, we start to walk back where I was waiting. "I'm kidding."
"Could just sit and talk?" Sounds perfect.
"With you? Funny."
"Oh come on, please?"
"Since your begging." We take a seat in the grass and cross our legs. As awkward as it already is, I decide to stare at him. He's looking at the sky, barely smiling. So I smile too, not on purpose, it was just a natural action. Pietro's blonde and brown hair falls into his face, his body just so relaxed. How can one be so relaxed at a time like this? No, the question is why does his appearance and his presence tremble my nerves the way they do? Looking at such a clan individual does the opposite to me. Eventually, he senses my gaze and meets eyes with me.
