A Fresh Start

Assumptions:

- The marriage annulment papers were real. Abhimaan is actually divorced.

- Abhira did not love Armaan, but had a soft corner for him.

- No ruhi-armaan wedding track.

- Armaan only shares a good relationship with his father and his cousins.

Abhira Sharma walked into her favorite café in Mussoorie, the smell of freshly brewed coffee comforting her. As she settled into a corner seat, her mind wandered to the painful memories of her past and the torture she faced at the Poddar mansion. Suddenly, a familiar voice broke her reverie.

"Abhira? Is that really you?"

She looked up to see Vedant Mehta standing before her, his eyes wide with surprise.

"Vedant? What are you doing here?" Abhira's voice quivered with a mix of shock and joy.

"I'm here on an assignment. I can't believe it's you after all these years," Vedant replied, taking a seat opposite her.

They began catching up, and as days passed, their meetings became frequent. One evening, as they strolled by the lake, Vedant's curiosity got the better of him.

"Abhira, what happened after we parted ways? I've always wondered about your life," Vedant asked gently.

Abhira hesitated but then began to speak. "After you left, everything was good. Mumma and I were happy in our lives and at our resort. But then, you remember Yuvraj right. He became obsessed with me, even kidnapped me and mumma. He was going to marry me, but then Armaan came and he was going to shoot Armaan but mumma came in the way and she died. It was her last wish that Armaan and I marry. I was lost and confused, so I just went along. He seemed nice at first and promised to be my mentor and friend, but his family... they were cruel. They humiliated me every single day. A few of them were nice, but no one other than Madhav papa took a stand for me ever. They all lived in fear of their matriarch, Kaveri Poddar. She was the worst. A cunning woman and a woman with an outdated mindset. The family treated me like an outsider, and Armaan never defended me even though they never gave him the love and respect that he deserved as he was grateful that they gave him a name, despite being illegitimate.

Vedant's eyes filled with concern. "That sounds horrible, Abhira. I'm so sorry you had to go through that."

Abhira nodded, her voice shaking. "And there's more. Sanjay Phuphasa, Armaan's uncle, runs Poddar Law with illegal practices. He's a dangerous man."

Vedant's eyes narrowed with determination. "Abhira, I'm going to expose them. They can't get away with this."

Vedant's investigation into Poddar Law was relentless. Late nights and tireless digging finally paid off when he uncovered irrefutable evidence of the firm's illegal activities. The exposé was published, causing an uproar.

One evening, Vedant called Abhira. "Abhira, turn on the news. It's happening."

Abhira switched on the TV, seeing the Poddar family's scandal plastered across every channel. "Vedant, you did it," she whispered, tears of relief streaming down her face.

The Poddar family was in chaos. Dadisa and Vidya blamed Armaan. Madhav tried defending his son but his son was done with this family. Instead of blaming Sanjay, the man who was responsible for all this, they were blaming him. The guilt of what him and his family had done to Abhira was already consuming him. Rohit was missing and Ruhi was sticking to him shamelessly. In the matter of minutes, he made up his mind to leave the house. Armaan confronted his grandmother and stepmother one last time before leaving.

"All my life, you've treated me like an outsider. I'm done with this family. All this was Sanjay Phuphas fault. You have always swept up his crimes under the rug. He is a corrupt man and also a horrible husband and father." he declared, packing his bags.

"Armaan, where will you go. You are no one without the Poddar name and how dare you say these things about Jamai Sa?" his grandmother asked.

"Anywhere but here. I can't live with this guilt anymore. I am sorry Dad, but this family has always treated me like an outsider, barring a few of you. I can't live in this toxic and outdated environment. I am done with this everyday nonsense and drama that everyone keeps pulling. I am tired of doing everything for your approval Dadisa even though you have never truly thought of me as your own. I am leaving the house and the Poddar firm, good luck with that by the way. Also, one last thing out of respect for the family and my love for my Rohit, I did not tell you all that Ruhi and I liked each other before. There is nothing between us now and I haven't glanced at her since she became my brother's wife. However, Ruhi on the other hand has used every opportunity to get close to me. So Kaveri and Vidya Poddar, just watch your back. This lady that you guys call the perfect bahu is a characterless person. I thought I was in love with her but it was just infatuation. I think I like Abhira. The same Abhira who all of you except Dad and the cousins mistreated. Your bad karma will hit you soon my dear family " he replied, leaving without looking back.

As the Poddars dealt with their downfall and Armaan leaving, another shock awaited them. Rohit, the presumed dead son, returned home two days later. His revelation about Ruhi loving Armaan added fuel to the fire.

"Ruhi, I know everything," Rohit said coldly. "You loved my brother. I left because of you."

Ruhi's face turned pale. "Rohit, I... I didn't mean to hurt you."

Rohit accepted her in front of the family but whispered in her ear, "You'll pay for what you did to Armaan and me."

Meanwhile, Vedant and Abhira's bond grew stronger. One evening, under the moonlit sky, Vedant proposed.

"Abhira, will you marry me? I promise to love and protect you forever."

Tears of joy filled Abhira's eyes. "Yes, Vedant. I love you."

Five years later, Abhira stood in front of a mirror, adjusting her saree for the award ceremony. She looked at Vedant and their young son, her heart swelling with pride.

"Ready, my love?" Vedant asked, holding their son.

"Yes, let's go," she smiled.

At the ceremony, Abhira was awarded the Best Female Lawyer of the Year. As she took the stage, she saw Armaan in the audience. He approached her after the event.

"Abhira, I'm sorry for everything. I wish I had stood by you," he confessed.

Abhira's eyes softened. "I forgive you, Armaan. We all make mistakes."

In her acceptance speech, Abhira said, "This award is for my parents, Akshara and Abhinav Sharma, and for my husband, Vedant, and our son. They are my strength."

The telecast of the awards reached the Goenkas and Poddars, who now lived together due to the Poddar bankruptcy. Manish Goenka, watching from home, was stunned.

"Akshara's daughter... Abhira is our family," he murmured, clutching his chest. He collapsed, and despite the family's efforts, he passed away.

The funeral was a somber affair. Ruhi performed the rites, her heart heavy with guilt and sorrow.
