BENJAMIN BEAST LOOKED OFF towards the isle of the lost, seemingly distracted as his suit was currently being fitted. eyebrows drawn together, he pursed his lips deep in thought, a light feeling of anxiety pulsating through his veins as he continued to think of the ways he was going to tell his parents about his first royal proclamation, one that he had been waiting to happen since he was a young child.

eventually, ben was broken out of his thoughts by the sound of his door slamming open. he flinched, earning a look from lumiere who was adjusting his suit, but nevertheless calmed down and smiled to himself once he saw two figures enter his room — arguing, as always.

"aariz, for the last time, i will not be calling your parents jaladdin—!"

"what are you two arguing about now?" ben asked, laughing lightly at the ridiculous statement he had heard just then. aariz, son of jasmine and aladdin, and felix, son of rapunzel and flynn, had been his best friends since before he could talk. it was not a shock to the people of auradon when ben claimed that they were both going to be his royal advisors when he becomes king.

a frustrated noise left felix's mouth as he pointed at his best friend, who most of the time he fought with as if they were enemies. "aariz is trying to get me to call his parents jaladdin!"

"but they want you to!" aariz argued back.

"no! it's weird!" felix retorted.

aariz gave a look of disbelief. "literally tell me how, how is that weird?"

"why would i call your parents jaladdin?" shouted felix. "why would anyone call your parents that?"

"that's what they go by!"

ben pursed his lips and attempted not to look too amused as he glanced back and forth between his best friends arguing.

felix eyes widened. "they willingly go by jaladdin?" he asked, and when aariz nodded his head at him, hysterical laughter escaped his mouth. "please tell your parents i think they're weird."

"how dare you!" aariz gasped in horror. "those are my parents!"

"i don't care!"

"ben!" aariz complained, and the two boys looked pointedly at their best friend who had been stood, silently watching their entire exchange. "felix just called my parents weird! can you believe it?"

"that's crazy," ben laughed, amused.

"oh please don't act like i don't hear the things you say about my mom," scoffed felix.

"man, she was locked in a tower for eighteen years, sorry for questioning what her sanitary was like... you know," aariz motioned towards somewhere, a look of pure awkwardness on his face as ben failed to hide his laughter.

"dude!" felix exclaimed. "that's my mom!"

"ouch!" aariz complained when felix smacked him across the back of his head, and ben understood it was now time to have them both make amends, he needed them on speaking terms if they were going to help persuade his parents.
