Chapter 73.5: Marcel

It was another day in Magnolia and Marcel was waking up to a beautiful morning.

Marcel: [Yawn]

Marcel was living in a small apartment that wasn't too far from the Fairy Tail Guild. The rent was reasonable, but not as bad as Lucy's. Marcel got dressed and ready to seize the day.

Mera: Good morning, Marcel! The fire cat greeted cheerfully.

Marcel: Mornin'.

Oh, that's another thing. Mera decided to stay and live with Marcel. The two managed to hit off.

Marcel: Should head to the guild hall. See if there are any jobs.

Marcel and Mera arrive at the guild and see all the members hanging out. The young mage goes toward the jobs and looks through the many choices.

Mirajane: Marcel.

Marcel: Hey, Mira. Just seeing if there are any good jobs.

Mirajane: By yourself? You're not going with the others?

Marcel: Nah. I'd rather do one solo.

Marcel goes to grab one job, but suddenly Natsu grabs the same paper. The two start tugging their hand of the paper and eventually evolves into a full-blown tug-of-war.

Natsu: Hand it over, I saw it first!

Marcel: No! I did! Now let go before I deck you!

Gray: Cool it, you two.

Lucy: If you want that job, you can just come along with us.

Marcel: I want this job because I don't want to join you guys. I need to get some experience myself, and I can't do that if I'm following you guys around. Plus, most of the time, we don't get any money because you guys do so much damage that they stiff us on the rewards.

Gray: Aw, come on. That's not our fault.

Marcel: Oh, yeah? Well, what about you, Gray? Remember the pitfall.

Gray: Hang on! That only happened because Natsu pushed me!

Natsu: No way! You're just clumsy.

Marcel: In that case, I'll be taking this job.

Natsu: Not a chance!

Erza: Okay, boys, if you want this job you're going to have to settle this fairly.

Natsu: Fine. We have an arm wrestling match and the winner gets the job.

Marcel: Ha! You guys are going down!

A few minutes later, Yukino walked into the guild passing by Erza, Gray, and Natsu who seemed oddly proud. As they passed by, Yukino spots Marcel in a crater of what used to be a table.

Yukino: What happened?

Lucy: Natsu challenged Marcel to an arm wrestling match, but he made Erza do it.

Yukino: I see.💧

Cana: Guess you got schooled big time.

Marcel: Please don't rub it in, I'm hurting enough already.

Cana: Don't let it get you down. Here, take a swig, you'll feel better! She says handing Marcel a glass of alcohol.

Levy: No way! Levy shouted, taking the glass away from him.

Cana: Why? One drink isn't gonna hurt anyone.

Levy: What are you talking about? Last time, you got him drunk, he blasted a giant hole in the roof.
