chapter seventeen : midnight whispers

"aurora everyone's waiting for yo- oh my god, im so sorry" sapphire said frantically, exiting the room quickly. her mother had told her to fetch aurora as for they where all waiting for her and cedric at the dinner table, but unfortunately sapphire had walked into aurora practically ontop of cedric with their tongues down eachothers throat. she closed the door, but left it open by 2 inches so she could communicate with her sister, but not see what exactly she was doing.

"god, saph, ever heard of knocking?" aurora groaned, she could hear her sister getting up off cedric and walking towards the door, yanking it open. "go downstairs. we'll be down in a moment" she spat angrily, saph gulping and nodding, creeping her way back down the stairs

sapphire was stunned and looked as if she had seen a ghost, her face looking pale and sick. the table was full of delicious and warm foods, everyone ready to dig in.

alaric was at the head of the table, per usual. lara, fortis, molina and 2 spare seats besides them at one side of the table. the other side, sapphire, draco and anastasia.

aurora and cedric made their way into the room, a furious look upon alaric's face "we've all been waiting for you aurora! god, how long does it take to get ready you silly girl" he snapped, his face practically red

"ric, calm down. im sure she was just getting ready" molina looked towards him in attempts to calm him down, their eyes interlocking, his gaze softened and his posture quickly adjusted.

"i'm sorry." he spoke gently, aurora scoffing in response.

everyone began digging into their food, sharing jokes and talking. draco stayed silent, perhaps out of fear. sapphire noticed this and squeezed his hand from under the table in attempts to comfort him, it could be overwhelming being around a family like theirs, especially being a new addition.

"so, cedric. what exactly are your attentions with my daughter?" alaric asked, his face stern. "dad, hold off" aurora groaned, rolling her eyes. cedric began to stutter before alaric burst into laughter "i'm only messing son, don't worry. im sure you're a good lad. " alaric said, smiling. cedric gave an awkward smile, unsure on what to say,

fortis finished his food, practically licking the plate. he let out a massive breathe of relief, leaning back in his seat. "cheers mum outdone yourself there" he gave a thumbs up, then removing himself from the table and making his way upstairs

aurora and cedric quickly followed, wanting their alone time presumably. molina and alaric then made their way to bed, due to the very uncomfortable gazes they shared, giving eachother 'the eyes', that unfortunately sapphire had picked up on a few times during the dinner.

lara, draco, anastasia and sapphire made their way towards the living room. the dark mysterious sky outside creating a chilling atmosphere. a sense of unknown lingering in the air like a rotten fruit.
