She spreads her wings like a butterfly's grace,
Sharing tales of wonders,
a radiant embrace-
But then apologizing for the sight,
She quickly folds them tight-

As if her beauty might offend the light.
All because somewhere in her life, at some point,
A careless word-
like a rainstorm, beat wings and she was blurred
Someone she loved commanded her to hide her shine
Told her to blend in,
be like the rest in line.

People aren't born with wings clipped short,
We compel them that way,
with every hurtful thought-
Their colour fades, their flight becomes a chore,
A masterpiece of potential,
lost forevermore~

- and so her fate, like butterflies
takes an unexpected turn,
controlled not by her own hands,
but by some clowns,
never letting her fly-
caging her the most preferred choice...
