"I'm so sorry, Nam." Freen's face tightened and she smiled faintly.

Nam and Heng looks at each other in confusion,"Why are you apologising?"

Freen sits up in bed and clears her throat, "For not listening to you. I should have taken better care of myself. I promise I will eat and drink and do whatever you tell me to from now on."

Glancing over at her, Nam's mouth thinned, "All it took for you was fainting." She joked.

Letting out a resigned sigh, Freen spoke, "It never happened before. I usually know when I'm pushing my body too much. This time it was totally unexpected. I was fully blindsided."

Giving her a crooked smile, Nam arched an eyebrow, "Maybe there's a reason for that."

Freen's face furrowed in question, "What?"

"You are pregnant." Nam murmured.

Freen's eyes widen in surprise, "Come again?"

"You are pregnant, Freen." Nam said firmly this time.

"Oh!"

Nam's mouth twisted with frustration, "Oh? Is that all?"

"What do you mean?" Freen questioned, confused.

"How are you pregnant?" Nam asked.

"Seriously?" Freen snorted.

"Whose is it?" It was Heng this time, who spoke for the first time since being in that room.

She looked between her two friends in obvious shock, "What are you implying?"

"Freen.." Stepping closer, Nam reached out to comfort her, the words already on the tip of her tongue, but Freen held a hand up to keep her at bay, "Don't! How can you even think that after everything that I went through? How can you even think for a minute that I would ever cheat? Some friends you are." Freen snapped.

"It's Becky's?"

"Yes." Freen said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"How?"

"We have been trying, we were doing IVF but the first two attempts didn't work. So I though it didn't work this time either. Then Becky's father died and we came to Bangkok and all hell broke lose. I never thought this would ever be a possibility." Freen said, her voice breaking as she pressed her hands into her eyes.

"Why didn't you say anything?"

Freen squeezed her eyes shut not letting the tears fall, "I really wanted to. But when it didn't work, we both were so hurt. It was so hard Nam, I just couldn't bring myself to tell anyone. We were having a hard time. I think we started falling apart after that."

"Freen, you both aren't even married. Is having a baby the right choice?" Nam couldn't help but ask.

Making a scathing sound of disbelief at the back of her throat, Freen sat back in her bed for a moment, flushed with anger and tight-lipped as her face went stony, "When we started dating, I told Becky that I wanted to have a baby. That was something we both agreed on. So when the time felt right, we went for it. And like I said before, I don't need a paper to tell us we are family."

"We both know that's not all." Nam countered.

With a heavy sigh and a disgruntled look, Freen rolled her eyes but didn't say anything.

"Freen, not every marriage is gonna end up like yours did. Becky is not Saint. You are not Saint. You need to deal with your problems and your trauma too, cause when Becky comes back, you must give her your all, including a marriage especially now that you are having a baby." Nam tried to reason.

"Freen, Becky made the choice. She was no longer going to let what happened to her in the past define her. She took the next step. Now it's your turn." Heng pitched in.

"It's time for you to put everything that happened behind you and make the choice to move on." Nam said, her expression softening as she glanced at Freen, who seemed to be genuinely thinking about it.

"Put a ring on her finger and break the news that she is gonna be a mother." Heng chuckles trying to ease the tension.

A smile dimpled Freen's cheek, and then a laugh slipped from her mouth and her smile grew until she couldn't hold her laughter back.

Maybe there was hope yet!
