After the longest day of my life, the bell rings to signal that school is over. It wasn't over for me though, I still had to volunteer as a soccer assistant today. As I roam through the hallway, I hear murmurs amongst the crowd. They must've heard about the rumor that's going around. I still don't know who the fuck spreaded it.

I ignore it though, it was a bunch of nobodies talking shit anyways. I go to the student committee room to grab the equipment and make my way out on the soccer field. I was the first one there, I set the equipment up for everyone and waited on the bleachers.

Usually, when I would volunteer, I would just go on my phone the whole time. But today was different, I had no interest in soccer whatsoever but I was looking forward to today's practice.

A few minutes go by, and I see the Blue Lock soccer team making their way out on the field. Bachira saw me first and ran up to me excitedly. "Y/n! You came to watch!"

"Yeah! Maybe I'll learn a thing or two about soccer."

The rest of the team came up to me, with Shidou leading them. There was another guy I recognized in the back with them, it must've been Barou. He looked much scarier in real life. He didn't say anything except scoff the whole time. Expected from the king. "Come on now guys, let's leave y/n alone and show her some sweet soccer." Shidou said, attempting to lure them away from me. Well that was weird, Shidou would usually invite me in.

"Y/n, I'll score a hat trick for you." Isagi says, pounding his chest with his fist. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Isagi. Talk when you can score a hat trick in an actual game." Kunigami said, sneering at him. I laugh, "What even is a hat trick?"

Zantetsu attempts to explain, before Chigiri interrupts him and says his explanation making no sense. They were all back to arguing again, it had to be a normal thing at this point. Only semi-normal ones were Reo and Nagi, talking to nobody else but each other. Shidou complains and says they are wasting practice time. Shidou was acting strange, it was out of character for him.

I look amongst the group, searching for something. I must've been looking for Rin. Because he was nowhere to be found. "Hey, where's Rin?" I asked.

"He's probably still in the changing room, that bastard never walks out with us." Isagi said, rolling his eyes. "Oh.. well you guys should start practicing! Show me the hat trick or whatever its called." I said, wanting to get this show started.

"Whatever you say, ma." Kunigami said, leading everyone out on the field. I stop Shidou before he goes out with them. "Shidou, you're acting strange. Why are you trying to get everyone away from me?" I asked.

Shidou sighs, "Oh! It's nothing..! I was just so excited for practice today..!" Shidou said, running towards the field now.

Before I even had time to process his strange behaviour, I saw Rin walk out, we made eye contact from across the field. His jersey looked good on him. I sat down to watch them get ready to warm up, the soccer coach, Mr. Tanaka sat next to me. "Y/n, you watching the soccer practice today? You're usually on your phone by the stand over there." He says pointing to my station. "Yeah, but I wanted to watch Shidou and his friends today. Maybe even learn about soccer." I answered.

Mr. Tanaka chuckles, "I see. Well I'll tell you how this works."

Mr. Tanaka told me the rules of soccer, it was pretty straight forward. Get the ball in the opposing team's goal without using your hands. First to 5 wins. I knew that already until he told me about the complicated positions that they had. The goalies were robots called 'Blue Lock man'. They were designed so everyone could play equally on the field. Mr. Tanaka told me what everyone's role was; Chigiri and Zantetsu were side midfielders, Bachira and Reo were center midfielders, Kunigami and Isagi were on defense, and Rin, Nagi, Barou, and Shidou were the forwards/strikers.
