The New Generation of Divergence

Chapter 5

CARENNA POV

"Are you nervous?" Andreas asks.

"No" I say. He raises his eyebrows.

"Did you figure out was faction you're going to choose?" he asks me.

"Yes" I say. "you?"

"Yeah" he says.

We walk to the choosing ceremony. I can't believe it's finally here. As are families walk I notice that it's just my mom and his dad that walk with us.

"Where's dad?" I ask my mom.

"Control room" she says. "Don't worry everyone there will watch"

"Hey guys wait up" I hear Katelyn yell from behind. She catches up with us.

"Where are your parents" I ask.

"They have to be at the net when the initiates come so they couldn't come" she says.

"So do we" Andreas' dad, Uriah, says.

"So we are just walking you there" my mom says.

We finally get there and are parents leave and we walk in. We look around and find are seats. 

When I find my seat I realize I know no one around me. I scan the crowd for a familiar face. I find my self looking at a certain Erudite across the room. Gabe. He smiles at me when I look at him, one dimple on his left cheek. His skin is a tan color but not too tan, maybe a golden. His blue eyes are sort of grey if you just glance at him, but if you look at him for a while (which I'm totally not doing, why would I do that) his eyes are sort of green/blue. His hair is almost the same color as his skin, a little lighter. I would't say he was blonde, more of a brown/blonde hair color. I think about why he looked at the Dauntless the other day and smiled. Why would he do that? Maybe he is going to transfer to Dauntless.

 I realize I have been staring for way too long and I quickly try and look away. When I look back I see him looking back at me.  When the choosing ceremony starts I realize that Erudite is hosting it. Caleb Prior is the head of Erudite. Then I put something together. If Gabe's dad is Caleb Prior, the head of Erudite, why would he transfer to Dauntless?

The choosing has begun. No one has transferred, yet. 

"Madelyn Black" Caleb says. An Abnegation girl gets up. She cuts herself and her hand goes over the stones. Right when the blood drops She catches it with her other hand. Everyone looks surprised. Then she places her hand over the Dauntless coals. A drop of blood falls on the coals.

"Dauntless" Caleb says.

She walks over to the Dauntless and  sits down.

Then my name is called. (A/N SORRY ABOUT THAT I DON'T WANT TO SAY HER LAST NAME BECAUSE I HATE WHEN PEOPLE MAKE UP LAST NAMES FOR REAL CHARACTERS)

I walk over to Caleb. He hands me the knife. I really don't want to cut myself because I know it's going to hurt. So I quickly cut a small part of my palm and let my blood drip on the coals. All the dauntless cheer. I walk and sit down next to the abnegation girl who just chose. "Hey" I whisper.

"Hi I'm Madelyn" she whispers.

"Carenna" I stick out my hand. She looks puzzled. I take my hand back confused. 

The ceremony continued. All my friends choose dauntless; Andreas, Katelyn, Micheal, and Lina.

"Gabe Prior" Caleb says. Gabe walks over and cuts himself. He looks between two bowls; Erudite and Dauntless. He walks over to the Erudite bowl. Of course.
