There was a scheduled rally for today; the sun was bright and warm and the sky a perfect canvas of blue.

I woke up energized, feeling excited for the upcoming day. I was able to eat a full breakfast at home, drink a warm cup of coffee, and have enough time to doll myself up like I always loved to do. Putting on makeup and doing my hair was one of my favorite parts of the day; it was like my own personal form of art.

The headquarters buzzed with excitement and nervous energy, everyone focused on ensuring the event would go off without a hitch. I arrived early, my heart pounding with anticipation and a touch of anxiety. Today was a big day for Jack, and I just wanted everything to be perfect.

I found Jack in his office, his suit jacket draped over the back of his chair, sleeves rolled up as he went over his speech for the umpteenth time. The usual classical music played softly in the background, but today it seemed to carry a more hopeful tune.

He looked incredible, his suit complimenting the color of his skin and his tie matching his chocolate eyes.

"Hey, Jack," I said, knocking gently on the door frame. "You ready for today?"

We smile at each other as he makes his way past me towards his phone on an end table and I inhale as he passes, breathing in his cologne and memorizing the scent.

He turns down the volume of the music, looking back at me. "Ready as I'll ever be. How are you feeling about it?"

"Nervous," I admitted, walking in all the way and closing the door behind me. "But it's a good kind of nervous. We've worked so fucking hard for this."

"Yeah, we have," he said, his eyes meeting mine with an intensity that always made me feel like he could see right through me. "I'm nervous too, I feel like I could shit myself right now. But I killed my first rally and I'm gonna do it again. And I couldn't have done it without you."

I felt a flush of warmth spread through me. "We're a team, Jack. We're all in this together."

He nodded, then looked back at his speech, a furrow appearing between his brows. "I've been going over this all morning, but something just feels off."

"Want me to take a look?" I offered, moving closer.

"Please," he said, handing me the pages.

I read through his speech, my mind automatically noting areas where the phrasing could be tightened or the message sharpened. "This part here," I said, pointing to a paragraph. "You might want to rephrase it to sound more personal, more like you're speaking directly to the people."

He leaned in, his shoulder brushing against mine as he looked over the page. "Like this?" he asked, making a quick edit.

"Exactly," I said, feeling a shudder go down my back at the contact. I wanted to grab his arm and stroke it so badly. I knew they were strong and powerful as they were so irresistible everytime he would flex when he wore a short sleeve shirt. I paused my dirty thoughts, focusing back on the topic at hand. "And- and, maybe add a bit more about your vision when you win the election, how you exactly plan to bring about real change bringing it back to your policy goals."
