The low hum of the car's engine purrs softly as Jack pulls up to the curb outside my apartment. I wrap my blazer around me tighter, the wind in the air making me shiver. It is starting to get colder in Dallas and finally I can start wearing my favorite clothes that sat in the back of my closet. I took a deep breath, my hands momentarily gripping the fabric of my dress as I tried to steady myself. It was silly to feel nervous; we had already crossed so many lines that the thought of dinner together shouldn't have sent butterflies ricocheting in my stomach. But everything felt different after last night. The memory of his hands on me, the way we had both finally let our guards down, made me realize we had truly leapt into the deep end. There was no going back.

I step out onto the sidewalk, the heel of my ballet flats clicking softly as I approach his car. I'm glad he ditched his truck for tonight. Truthfully, it wasn't my favorite. But I wouldn't tell him that.

Jack climbs out, his eyes lighting up when they meet mine. His hair is pushed back with a small curl landing softly on his forehead. He wore a long-sleeve textured knit grey sweater, adorned with black dress pants and grey New Balance sneakers. The fading sun frames his silhouette, casting him in hues of amber and gold. How is he real? His smile was soft, boyish in a way that made me weak. "Hey, beautiful," he said simply, his voice low and warm, sending a ripple of warmth through me.

"Hey." The word felt weightless, fragile. He reaches for my hand, his grip firm yet tender as he brings it to his lips for a gentle kiss. The touch lingers longer than necessary, leaving a soft ache behind when he pulls away.

I look around swiftly, hoping no one saw us. As much as I would love to openly express my affection for him, we just couldn't.

"Sorry," he said quickly, scooting back.He clears his throat, "Ready?" he asks, his eyes searching mine for any hint of doubt.

"Yeah," I whisper, smiling despite myself. We walk together to the passenger door, and he opens it for me, his movements deliberate, like he wants every second to count. I slip inside, the leather cool against my skin. He rounds the car and gets in, the space between us charged with an electricity I couldn't shake. I watch him drive for a moment, various dirty thoughts circling in my mind. He moves his right hand off the wheel, resting it on my thigh. He continues to move his hand further upwards as he squeezes me tightly, and I feel a rush swell inside me. I'm not sure if hes doing it deliberately, but fuck me, I don't mind.
