My sister's been acting really weird lately. She barely sees me anymore nor does she talk to me as often. I've been talking to Lauren and Joe about her, and Lauren says she is very worried about her because she sees the behavior. Joe, on the other hand, just acts very nonchalant about it and says it's because 'she's a teenager and going through a weird stage right now'. Please, I know my sister. She's one of the people I know most in the world. Here I am now, sitting my apartment waiting for Joe to get home to tell me how his interaction with the girls went today. I wish I could've gone, but I was studying for finals. As soon as he walks in, the aura in the apartment is off. I pause what I'm doing and look towards him. "Everything okay with the girls?"
He pauses before he answers. "Yeah, everything is fine."
I question him further. "How's Jess?"
He just shrugs. "She's fine, Nick." He walks further into the apartment after taking his shoes off completely and sits down on the couch. I don't believe him, but I just choose to go back to what I'm doing. I had a knocking feeling in my gut telling me to pry, but I had finals to study for. I regret not asking now.
Next thing I know, I hear the phone ringing. I go to pick it up and see that it's Jess. I immediately answer.
