▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃He sat down in the break room with his friends venting about the situation days ago, his face buried in his hands and wiped his tears away using a tissue as Mona's hand rubbed his back. The softened faces from them made him feel supported yet his feeling of fear lingered.
"Since Taurus did that, then you shouldn't be in a relationship with him anymore." Mona suggested, her hand resumed to rub his back.
"I heard that Kareem wasn't always like that when they were together, Taurus was the problem at first. But he wanted to keep him around so he wouldn't be alone." Tyquian chimed in, biting down on both lips nervously.
Devin, Mona, and Michele gave Tyquian a disapproving look for saying something inappropriate at that moment. After shedding many tears, Hayden eventually managed to cleanse his face thoroughly.
He felt ashamed, but he was aware that his friends wouldn't pass judgment on him in any way.
Despite not having spoken to Taurus for nearly three weeks, his boyfriend has continued to apologize to Hayden multiple times.
Taurus continued to make phone calls and send text messages to him, but received no reply.
"Taurus told me that he would be different this time.." Hayden mumbled with sadness, shaking his head disapprovingly.
"Have you told your aunt about this yet? You don't deserve to be treated like this." Devin asked him, raising his brows in concern.
Hayden looked at Devin with an upset expression, "And have her say I told you so again? She knew that nigga wasn't shit?" Hayden snapped with venom, watching Devin hold his hands up in defense.
'I'm sorry man, but are you gonna stay with your nigga?" Devin replied in a soft tone, arms crossed with anger.
Their intention was solely to reason with Hayden and make him understand that what was occurring was not acceptable.
He was aware of that, but if Hayden departed, would that imply that Taurus solely desired Kareem?
But finally, he made a decision in the depths of his mind for their relationship. He felt the weight of this situation on his shoulders.
"I need some space from Taurus, it's obvious that he doesn't know what he wants. He wants Kareem in his life but I love him." Hayden stated firmly, his eyes glued on the polished white floor.
His friends exchanged worried looks and shifted their gazes back to Hayden with concern.
"Hayden, Taurus is giving you pain and confusion, He probably did the same shit with Kareem. Don't ignore the red flags." Mona spoke softly, smiling at him.
He nodded at her, feeling a plethora of emotions swirling inside him, knowing it wouldn't be easy to distance him from Taurus. But he also needed to prioritize his own well-being.
As he thanked his friends for the advice and made his way out of the break room with them.
He knew this was the right thing to do, for both of them. And if Taurus couldn't see it then Hayden would have to move on.
Maybe date someone else, who isn't Taurus.
Hayden made his way to Taurus's house, his mind filled with a whirlwind of thoughts as he mentally geared up for the forthcoming discussion with his boyfriend.
Knocking on the door, hearing his steps heading toward him. Taurus opened the door and stepped aside to let Hayden in, "What's up baby?" he greeted him, smirking.
Hayden walked into the house, exhaling a deep breath as Taurus closed the door. Planting a tender kiss on his lips, but Hayden didn't kiss him back this time. Taurus noticed this and frowned.
"What's wrong?" Taurus asked gently, his eyes studied his expression.
"Taurus we need to take a break from each other, I need some space from you." Hayden confessed softly, his hand resting on his shoulder.
Taurus's jaw clenched tightly, his anger evident in his expression. His hands balled into fists as he tried to control his emotions.
"Wai—are you breaking up with me?" Taurus's voice trembled slightly, his eyes pleading for Hayden to reconsider.
Hayden took a step back, trying to maintain his composure. "It would be best for both of us," He explained, his voice steady with emotion.
"What the hell is a break gonna do for us? I said I was fucking sorry for that shit!" Taurus yelled with venom, holding his hands out.
Taurus's face crossed with hurt, trying to process what was happening. He knew he made a mistake but didn't want this to be the outcome.
"If you were really sorry about it then you would keep Kareem out of your life, not be fucking friends with him!" Hayden shouted back, shaking his head disapprovingly.
"Hayden, please..I don't want to lose you. I love you." Taurus whispered, holding his hand and cupping his cheek.
Don't let him back in, put a stop to this cycle with him. Hayden mentally spoke, giving him a serious expression instead.
"I think you're overreacting about this, it's not like I'm fucking that nigga, we're just friends!" Taurus shot back, his tone agitated.
Hayden's face twisted up with disgust, he couldn't believe that he just said that.
"Taurus, the fact you are still close to him despite what happened, shows me where your priorities lie." Hayden reasoned with firmness, his eyes reflecting pain and disappointment.
"You kept Kareem in your life for a reason, what you have with him is all you know. You don't want me." Hayden retorted softly, gently moving his hand away from his cheek.
Taurus felt a sudden bout of remorse that overwhelmed him, causing him to hastily clutch his boyfriend's arm and prevent Hayden from leaving. Taurus forcefully pulled him back towards himself, making sure their eyes met.
"That's not what I want.." Taurus whispered, his tone irritated.
Taurus gently placed their hand on the back of his neck, bringing their lips together in a kiss. Hayden's hands found their place on his tattooed and strong chest, and butterflies flew in his stomach.
Hayden abruptly pulled back, causing their lips to separate with a gentle sound. Anger, fear, and relief washed over the young male.
It was a difficult choice to make but he had to do this.
"You're not doing this for us, you're doing this for you. I can't keep going through this with you." Hayden concluded firmly, lips formed into a frown.
Hayden spun around and walked away, heading for the door, opening it and then closing it shut.
Taurus stood there, his heart breaking as he watched Hayden leave. He knew deep down that he had pushed Hayden too far and needed to fix this.
As Hayden disappeared from view, Taurus sank down onto the couch, his head in his hands.
He replayed their conversation in his mind, realizing the gravity of his actions and the pain he had caused Hayden.
Emotions swirling through him. Maybe this break would give them the clarity they both needed.
