Hayden gets dressed for work and slides on his shoes, darting in the full length mirror and sliding his phone in his pocket, taking his keys from the dresser, feeling a wave of happiness wash over him. His mind clouded of Corrine's words, shaking his head and pushing those thoughts aside, hearing his aunt call his name. His ears perked up in response and walked out of his bedroom. Getting ready for breakfast with her.

He stepped into the kitchen and began to eat his breakfast, his mind shifting back to Corrine showing up at their date that night. Seating himself in the chair at the table across from Janet.

"Good morning, Hayden, how are you this morning?" Janet announced with joy, placing her fork into her waffles.

"Good morning Aunt Janet, I'm doing good," Hayden replied kindly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

He stepped into the kitchen and began to eat his breakfast, his mind shifting back to Corrine showing up at their date that night.

"Do you still remember Corrine?" Hayden blurted, taking a bite from his scrambled eggs on the plate.

Janet's face twisted up at her nephew from saying her name, "That lying, biphobic, stuck up, little bitch that lead you to hell? Oh my god, don't remind me." she grumbled, rubbing her temple.

"My bad, she was at the same place that Taurus and I were eating in on our date, and she said some shit that was out of line. She even had a new boyfriend again,"  Hayden explained firmly, rolling his eyes.

"She's still jumping from relationship to relationship again?" Janet asked firmly.

Hayden nodded at the question, "Sadly yes, I bet she broke up with him the second I left with Taurus.." He sighed lowly.

She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, "At some point, it takes people a long time to face reality, only when it's too late."

"Okay," he mumbled, he stood up from the chair and placed his empty plate in the sink.

The male headed for the front door, "Have a good day at work, be safe! Love you!"

"You too, love you more,"

———

After finishing his shift at work, he stepped out of the exit and his eyes shifted toward Corrine who was walking toward him where his car was parked in the parking lot.

"Hey baby, where have you been?" Corrine asked with a smirk.

Hayden gently moved her hands away from him before she touched him again, "Keep your fucking hands off of me, I'm not your baby, what you said to me was unforgivable."

"Oh come on, I said some shit and you said some shit. You know we always end up back together Hayden, After all these years I see you kissing another nigga?" She snapped, holding out her hands.

His jaw clenched at her words, crossing his hands and narrowed his gaze at the woman again.

"See? that's what I'm talking about, you're still talking like we're still together, like I'm the same dumb ass nigga that took you back, like nothing has changed!" Hayden yelled, his gaze narrowed.

Corrine clenched her jaw and her hands balled into fists, anger boiling from within her, her face twisted up in disgust again.

"You don't understand how this makes me Corrine Cross look, like a fool. I can't have people thinking or saying I'm some kind of joke because of your actions, like I can't keep my man!" she spat, her voice dripping with venom.

Hayden shook his head, feeling a surge of anger and frustration rise within him. "This isn't about you, Corrine. It's about me and my happiness. I deserve better than someone who constantly belittles me and thinks they can control me," he said firmly, his voice unwavering.

Corrine's eyes flashed with rage as she took a step closer to Hayden, her face contorted in a mixture of anger and hurt. "You're making a big mistake, Hayden. You'll regret this," she warned, her tone icy.

Hayden held his ground, his eyes locked with hers. "No, Corrine. The only mistake I made was letting you back into my life time and time again. It ends now. Goodbye," he said, turning on his heel and walking away, leaving Corrine fuming behind him.

"We are not together anymore! Just accept it!" He yelled back, getting into his car and turned his head toward her.

The last thing she wanted was to lose him, she refused to let go.

"You know better than to play with me! I promise you I'm gonna fuck your life up! And your fake ass boyfriend!" She yelled angrily.

After that, he drove away.

Corrine grabbed her phone from her purse, her thumb pressed the contacts icon and scrolled down to the name that said "Dad🙄❤️"

The line trills once and she held the phone close to her ear, "Hey Daddy! I have a problem, I want Hayden back but there's somone in the way.." she exaggerated.

"Who is bothering my little princess?"

"I had a vivid description of him, and his name, Taurus get rid of him."

———

He sat down on the couch with his aunt, sighing after a long day of work. His eyelids gradually closing for a much-needed nap but suddenly his phone buzzed in his pocket. He quickly picked it up.

It was a call from Taurus, he wondered why he was calling him this late at night. He hoped it wasn't anything serious.

He held the phone close to his ear, "Is this Hayden? Taurus's boyfriend?" He heard a voice speaking on the other line.

"Yes, who is this?"

"This is Terrell, I'm his friend and Taurus was beaten up badly and almost killed from someone named Benny, He said that he spotted your ex girlfriend watching the whole thing happen with a evil smirk on her face,"

Hayden's eyes widen in shock, his hand shaking in fear, "My aunt and I are on our way over there! Which hospital is it?"

Terrell quickly gave Hayden the name of the hospital, and without wasting a second, Hayden and his aunt rushed out of the house and into the car. The drive to the hospital felt like an eternity, Hayden's heart pounding in his chest with worry for Taurus.
