Yuri hummed the song that Yuya had sang as he grilled some salmon over a fire. It was a very catchy tune, and it really helped make cooking more enjoyable. He could hear Yuya singing to his garden some more, and the elf smiled. He was really going to enjoy having Yuya here.
Yuya continued singing until the wind started blowing, and the sudden chill made him shiver. Before he could do anything about it, something came rolling through the glade, pushed by the wind. It bumped against Yuya's fluke, and the ningyo blinked in surprise.
"Huh? What's this?" he wondered aloud, picking the object up. It was a little ceramic bottle with a wooden stopper in it. Yuri popped his head out of his hut. "What's what?"
"The wind blew this to me," Yuya said, showing the bottle to Yuri. The elf tsked. "Damn humans and their litter..."
Yuya looked down at the bottle, curious to know if anything was inside. He took hold of the stopper and pulled it out.
A swirling glowing vapor poured out of the bottle, condensing into the solid form of a cute boy. He had eggplant purple and black hair and onyx eyes. The boy looked irritated as he began speaking.
"I am the genie of the bottle, at your service. You get three wishes. What'll it be, my Master?" he said.
Yuya blinked in surprise. "U-uhm? I don't need wishes?" The genie sighed and started to speak, before actually looking at Yuya. His eyes widened and he looked the ningyo up and down in confusion, then said, "You're a merfolk! Not a human! Oh, thank Ra! I'd much rather grant a merfolk's wishes! Humans are always so greedy!"
"But... I don't need any wishes?" Yuya repeated. "Uhm... Are you like... doomed to be imprisoned in that bottle and grant wishes to anyone who lets you out, for all eternity?"
"Yeah," the genie replied. "It sucks, but it is what it is."
"So, if I wished for you to be free...?" Yuya suggested. The genie lit up hopefully. "That's the only way for me to be released from my curse."
"Ok, then I wish for you to be free," Yuya said. The genie blinked, "No wishing for anything else before that? That's only one wish, you have three." Yuya just shrugged and said, "It wouldn't be fair of me to make you grant me two more wishes before being freed, especially since I don't really have anything to wish for. That's my only wish."
The genie stared at him for a moment, then smiled warmly at him. "Well, if that's what you want, so be it!" He began glowing purple for a moment, then sighed and stretched. "Ah, freedom! Thank you, kind merfolk. My name is Yuto. What's yours?"
"Yuya!" the ningyo replied, smiling back. "And that's Yuri! He's an elf!"
"It's nice to meet you both!" Yuto said. "I hope we can be friends!"
