Ren lounged on the couch, nibbling on the last cookie from the plate. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow through the living room window. He glanced at the clock, noting that Onyx would be home any minute now. Ren smiled to himself, enjoying the rare treat. Onyx made the best cookies, and Ren couldn’t resist helping himself whenever the opportunity arose.

Just as he popped the final crumb into his mouth, the front door creaked open, and Onyx stepped in, looking weary from a long day at work. He paused, his keen eyes scanning the room until they landed on Ren, who was casually licking his fingers.

“Hey, babe,” Ren called out, trying to sound nonchalant. “How was work?”

Onyx raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. “Busy as usual,” he replied, his tone light but carrying an undercurrent of curiosity. He set down his bag and walked over to the kitchen, his eyes narrowing slightly as he noticed the empty plate where his cookies had been.

Ren watched, a small knot of apprehension forming in his stomach. Onyx’s cookies were a labor of love, and he knew his partner didn’t appreciate it when they disappeared without notice.

Onyx turned to face Ren, his expression unreadable. “Ren,” he began, his voice smooth and calm, “did you enjoy the cookies?”

Ren grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. “Uh, yeah. They were delicious, as always.”

Onyx’s smirk widened, and he sauntered over to the couch, sitting down next to Ren. He wrapped an arm around Ren’s shoulders, pulling him close. “I’m glad you liked them,” he said softly, pressing a gentle kiss to Ren’s temple.

Ren relaxed a bit, leaning into the embrace. “I couldn’t resist,” he admitted. “You make the best cookies.”

Onyx chuckled, his breath warm against Ren’s ear. “Flattery will get you everywhere,” he murmured, his voice taking on a playful edge. “But you know, those were my cookies. I was looking forward to having some after work.”

Ren swallowed hard, sensing the underlying threat in Onyx’s tone. “I’m sorry,” he said quickly. “I’ll make it up to you, I promise.”

Onyx hummed thoughtfully, his fingers trailing down Ren’s arm. “Oh, I know you will,” he said sweetly. He pulled back slightly, looking Ren in the eyes. “Because if you take my cookies again, I’ll have to find a way to make sure you learn your lesson.”

Ren’s heart raced at the dangerous glint in Onyx’s eyes. He knew his partner well enough to understand that Onyx’s threats were usually followed by playful, albeit intense, consequences.

“I promise, I won’t do it again,” Ren said, his voice earnest.

Onyx’s expression softened, and he leaned in to capture Ren’s lips in a tender kiss. “Good,” he whispered against Ren’s mouth. “Because I don’t want to have to be too harsh.”

Ren shivered, both from the kiss and the implications of Onyx’s words. “I’ll bake you some more cookies to make up for it,” he offered, hoping to appease his partner.

Onyx chuckled, his lips brushing against Ren’s in another brief kiss. “I’d like that,” he said, his tone finally gentle and forgiving. “But remember, next time you want something sweet, just ask.”

Ren nodded, feeling relieved and more than a little excited by the turn of events. He wrapped his arms around Onyx, pulling him into a tight hug. “I will, I promise.”

Onyx hugged him back, a satisfied smile on his face. “Good. Now, let’s relax and enjoy the evening. And maybe, later, we can bake some cookies together.”

Ren’s heart swelled with affection, and he kissed Onyx’s cheek. “Sounds perfect.”

As they settled back onto the couch, Ren couldn’t help but feel grateful for the playful dynamic they shared. Despite the teasing and the occasional threats, he knew that Onyx’s love for him was as sweet and comforting as the cookies he baked.
