the following weeks progress like a fairytale happily ever after, in jake's opinion.
heeseung arrives at the college gates every afternoon, to pick him up, and they spend the rest of the day in each other's company, either at the skvhc headquarters or, at the older man's apartment. it's often silent and peaceful, with jake too busy studying for his rapidly approaching semester-end exams and heeseung looking over museum files and reports of public undead activity, to be talking much, but every once in a while, they find themselves taking breaks, just to lie in each other's arms and, sneak in quick make out sessions, when they get the chance.
the teasing ramps up a notch, courtesy of ni-ki and sunoo, but to be honest, jake doesn't mind. he almost revels in it, because to him, it means that there exists a heeseung and jake to be made fun of, and who doesn't love reminders that their boyfriend is as smitten with them, as they are, with him? jungwon and jay are more tolerable of their antics, the former just smiling exaggeratedly to hide his embarrassment when heeseung gets a little too touchy with jake in public, while the latter is stuck between laughing his ass off and dying of disgust every time jake reaches up to fix heeseung's hair, and is rewarded with way too many kisses. meanwhile, sunghoon?
the blond vampire seems to be more enthusiastic about their relationship than they themselves, are.
"i'm taking notes," sunghoon informs him, during lunch hour, one sunny afternoon. "you guys are the standard, and it's extremely fascinating, because you haven't even known each other that long."
"maybe, it's because we haven't known each other that long that we can communicate easily, without judging each other," jake offers, shrugging. "ni-ki and you have a history, and that might make it harder for you guys to talk comfortably."
"nah," sunghoon disagrees. "that's not it. you and heeseung hyung might not know everything about each other, but i've never seen two people who get along so well. it's like you can read each other's minds, or something!"
jake laughs, pulling sunghoon into a side-hug. "i promise you, that's not it."
"well, then, you were probably lovers in your past lives," sunghoon states, confidently. "that's the only explanation."
at that, jake laughs harder, shaking sunghoon back and forth who retaliates with a tickle attack. reincarnation is a pretty dubious thing to consider, but in a world where magic and reality-manipulating beings reside, is it really that much of a far-fetched idea to believe in? jake has always thought of himself as a scientific guy, but he's also reasonably open-minded, and while he doesn't really think that this life he's living right now is not his first one, the thought of heeseung and him traversing through time and space, to find each other, over and over again, is a sweet one.
the notion that it's too early on, in their relationship, to be thinking about stuff like that, doesn't even occur to him. he doesn't think about how scary it is, to find himself so deeply connected to one person, that other people have no trouble noticing it and pointing it out. he doesn't even balk at ni-ki's insinuation that if they carry on being so gross like this, they're probably going to end up married, within the year.
this should really have told him how far he'd fallen.
as it is, he's kind of distracted, to be thinking too much about what's considered appropriate first relationship thoughts, and what isn't.
he finds himself debating whether he should tell his parents about heeseung, or wait a bit first. if he knows his mom, then she's going to be all over his boyfriend, asking about his job, his family, his interests, and then, jake's going to have to fight for heeseung's attention, while his dad cackles in the background. his brother is definitely going to be of no help, seeing as he had to suffer the same way when he introduced his current girlfriend to their parents.
