he decides to make a stop at one of the cafeterias, before making his way to where heeseung is. meeting up with his coven leader without a reason feels a little awkward, but he has it on good authority that ramyeon makes great conversation starters. he has noticed that heeseung seems partial to spicy flavors, and it's the perfect time for an afternoon snack, and well... who would ever say no to free food?
the elevator dings, as it comes to a halt, and jake steps out, into a reasonably sized reception area, and is almost run over.
"hey! those flyers aren't going to print themselves out!" a woman in a dark woolen suit rushes past him, barely missing knocking down the tray he's balancing. "huh yunjin, get back here!"
"i don't wanna!" a faint voice comes from the other end of the reception. "do it yourself, unnie!"
"uh, excuse me!" jake calls out, before he's subjected to another round of cursing, unintended for him. "i'm here to see lee heeseung-ssi?"
the woman stops in her tracks, and wheels around. "do you have an appointment?" she demands.
he shakes his head, nervously. "i- i'm part of his coven," he says. "if he's busy, i can wait-"
"wait," the woman says, quickly. she looks him up and down twice. "jake? sim jake?"
"yeah," he says, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "um, how did you-"
"go straight," she says, already turning back around. "turn right at the end. his office is third in the line."
and, with that, she's off, screaming for huh yunjin again. jake blinks, before deciding to do what she said. he stands in front of the large, mahogany door at the entrance of heeseung's office for a few seconds, and then, steeling his nerves, he knocks on the wood, twice.
"come in," heeseung's voice answers, and the butterflies in his stomach instantly double in number.
he pushes the door open, and is immediately surrounded by cedarwood and ylang ylang. for a moment, he just stands there, breathing in and letting the scent settle inside his lungs. he's very sure that if given the chance, he will be happy to stay like this for ages, enveloped in heeseung, heeseung, heeseung-
"jaeyun-ah?"
he smiles, a little shyly. "hi, hyung."
heeseung's office is as impersonal as his bedroom, with blank walls and a minimally occupied desk, the only splash of color being a tiny bambi paperweight resting on top of a stack of paperwork, but he only has eyes for the man behind the desk, who's looking at him with something akin to astonishment on his face.
he lifts the tray, unnecessarily, and smiles wider. "i thought i would come to you, this time. you like the fried neoguri spicy chapagetti flavor, right?"

they eat the ramyeon, sitting side by side on a sofa, in a corner of the room. jake's hoodie-covered arm keeps brushing against heeseung's bare one (his sleeves are rolled up again, god help him) and his leg keeps bumping against heeseung's, but the older vampire doesn't seem to mind, so he leans into the contact more.
yeah, i'm nice but that doesn't mean i'm not an opportunist when the occasion calls for it, hahaha-
"ramyeon is all we eat when we get together," heeseung says, placing his empty bowl onto the little coffee table in front of them. "are you trying to tell me something, jaeyun-ah?"
he chokes on his last mouthful, taken aback at the sudden question in the worst way possible. he coughs violently, sputtering and flailing around, and heeseung bursts into laughter, as he slaps him on the back.
