Amelia's POV
As I walked back to the hotel, the memories of the night played in my mind like a sweet symphony. The early morning air was cool against my skin, and the sky was tinged with the first light of dawn. I felt a mix of exhilaration and nervousness. The night had been magical, but now I had to face my friends and explain where I had been.
I entered the hotel quietly, hoping to sneak back into my room without waking Lisa. The lobby was mostly empty, and the elevator ride up felt like an eternity. My heart pounded as the elevator doors opened, and I saw Harry. I was in shock; I didn't know what to say. I decided to act first. As I walked out of the elevator, Harry looked equally surprised.
"Amelia?"
"Harry, why aren't you asleep?
"The same question for you."
Harry stood in front of me, very close, looking groggy but concerned. His eyes widened as he took in my appearance. "Where have you been?" he asked, stepping closer.
"Harry, I... I went to freshen up. I couldn't sleep," I lied, trying to sound casual. It was always hard to lie to him, not only because he was my best friend, but he always could find the truth.
Harry came even closer. He frowned, his gaze dropping to the jacket I was wearing. "It smells like men's cologne."
I looked down, realizing I was still wearing Kenan's jeans jacket. "Yeah, um, it is. I got cold, and..." I trailed off, unable to come up with a convincing explanation.
Harry's expression darkened. "Who the hell gave you this jacket? Do you think I believed the story you told everyone yesterday?"
I hesitated, knowing I couldn't avoid the truth. "He's someone I met yesterday."
"Okay, you have to tell me more. How did it happen? Where were you?"
"I told you, I went to freshen up."
Harry's jaw tightened, and he took a step back, running a hand through his hair.
"Amelia, don't lie to me. I'm not a fool. Do you realise how worried I was? You didn't answer my messages or calls. I thought something happened to you. I was ready to go out and search for you while you were with some guy? And now you're standing here in someone else's jacket."
caught so easily. Then I tried to stand quietly because I didn't need Lisa to wake up and ask me where I was. As I stood, I saw a big A4 paper on the floor, with Lisa's tidy handwriting.
"Ams, I didn't want to wake you up. I am sleeping at Matthew's. If you wake up in the middle of the night, don't worry, I am great. Kisses, love you. P.S. go back to sleep!"
I laughed. It was so cute. Lisa knew that even the littlest sound could wake me up.
I slipped out of Kenan's jacket and hung it up, then changed into a comfy T-shirt and collapsed onto the bed. My mind was racing with thoughts of Kenan, the magical night we'd shared, and the unexpected confrontation with Harry. This trip had suddenly become a lot more complicated.
But as I drifted off to sleep, one thought lingered in my mind: I couldn't wait to see Kenan again, actually to hear his voice again and feel his lips on mine.
Harry's POV
I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Amelia, out all night with some guy she barely knew? And she lied to me about it. I knew Amelia well, and this wasn't like her. She was always so careful, so focused on her goals, and she would never lie to me.
I felt a mix of worry and jealousy gnawing at me. Worry because I didn't want anything bad to happen to her, and jealousy because, despite everything, I couldn't deny the feelings I had for her. Feelings I'd buried for years, convincing myself that our friendship was more important.
