Mike's POV
The clock on my phone read 3:00 AM,we only came from the club,we had fun, however I still hadn't heard from Amelia. My stomach twisted with worry as I stared at the screen, willing it to light up with a message or call from her. She had left the club with Kenan, and while I knew they had something going on, it didn't stop the anxiety from gnawing at me. Amelia was always good about staying in touch, and the silence was unsettling. But being realistic,in this trip she extremely sucks at communicating, she was hiding that man from us.
The others were scattered around the living room, all of us waiting for some sign that she was okay. Harry sat across from me, his eyes glued to his phone, too. I couldn't help the flicker of jealousy that sparked in me as I watched him. Harry and Amelia had always been close, their bond something that I had envied more than I'd like to admit. They had this easy connection, something unspoken that I could never quite penetrate. And now, with Kenan in the picture, that jealousy had only deepened.
"Still nothing?" Harry asked, not looking up from his phone.
I shook my head. "No. She's not answering. It's not like her, man."
Eva, sitting beside Sofia, frowned. "Maybe they're just talking, or she fell asleep. I'm sure she's fine."
But even her words did little to ease the tension in the room. The girls exchanged worried glances, and I could tell they were just as anxious as I was, even if they tried to hide it. The atmosphere was heavy with uncertainty, the earlier excitement of the night now replaced by a palpable worry.
Then my phone buzzed. For a split second, my heart leapt, but it was only Amelia's mom calling again. She had already called twice, concerned that Amelia wasn't responding. I knew the rest of us were worried, but when parents got involved, it took the anxiety to another level.
"Yeah, we're all okay, gils extremely exhausted,so they are all sleeping deeply," I said into the phone, trying to sound calm. "Mrs. Brier,we are not going to let something happen with our diamonds,Amelia will call you in the morning."
After ending the call, where I had lied, I looked around the room, trying to mask my own fears. The girls were whispering among themselves, speculating about what might be going on. Matthew and Lisa were trying to stay calm, but I could see the worry in their eyes too.
"This isn't like her," I muttered, more to myself than anyone else. Harry glanced up at me, his brow furrowed.
"Kenan's not a bad guy, Mike. He'll take care of her," he said, though there was a hint of something in his voice—maybe uncertainty, or maybe he was trying to convince himself as much as he was trying to convince me.
I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "I know. But still... what if something happened?"
Harry didn't answer right away. His silence spoke volumes, and I could tell he was just as concerned as I was, even if he tried to play it cool. I hated that he seemed to know Amelia better than anyone, even me. And now there was Kenan, this new guy who had somehow slipped into her life so effortlessly. I hated how easy it seemed for him.
"Look, we'll wait a little longer,if you want," Harry finally said. "But,I am more than sure she is with Kenan ,they are probably having their moments. She will call in the morning ,all safe for 100%"
The minutes ticked by, feeling like hours. Every buzz of a phone made us jump, but it was never Amelia. The conversation in the room had shifted to what might have happened, the girls speculating wildly while the guys tried to keep it together. But I knew everyone was thinking the same thing—where was she, and why wasn't she answering?
