"How old are you this year?" 

"... ... I don't know." Merciless replied with low tone.

Alphonse sighed at the sight of his son, "you're ten years old."

"ten...- Ah, I see!" Merciless nodded, "thank you, sir." He don't dare to call this man his father, after all he once did and he was locked away for months. 

"Hmm." Alphonse tossed the dagger to him. "Be glad that your mother convince me to spare you but don't think I'll go easy on you. I will never acknowledge you as my son... But I'll make you a good pawn."

'pawn'... When Merciless was not locked away, he spend his time with trainings and killing under Alphonse's orders. He doesn't enjoy when he take the other life, he shouldn't enjoy it.

He did this because it was orders from his father, he want his father to praise him for once.

Despite Killer warnings, Merciless couldn't help it but to admire the man who abused him and his mother.

He just doesn't understand this isn't normal at all. Nothing is normal in his life but he is too used to it. He's too used to be abused, to be pushed around until he can't get up, to be break until he don't feel like himself anymore.

This is normal for him.

Merciless can use his magic, but he's not allowed to show it Alphonse. 

If Alphonse know about his potential, he'll kill him before he develope more of his potential.

So he use his strength to survive in this harsh training.

It'll be alright, he will be alright... ... He is always alright.

He's just glad that Alphonse spent his time with him. It's just a training but Merciless think this is how father express their love to their children. 

after all, only Alphonse train him like this. He didn't train Crescent at all, he left Crescent alone.
