You were speechless.

You never thought you'd see the day where you'd stand in front of the Goddess of Nature. You had to admit, her true form was a sight to behold.

Dark Pit noticed your silence and sighed, introducing you to her.

"This is (y/n). They're a Fallen Angel that escaped from the Underworld. They have good fighting skills and I think they need a goddess to reside as under."

Viridi looked at you up and down.

"A Fallen Angel? Ooh, sounds like the perfect recruit! Your wings seem bent too...but I think I can fix that!"

Viridi grinned. With your recent escape and your harmed wings, she knew she had you wrapped around her finger. "But before I get over my head here, you need to prove you're a good fighter."

You blinked, a little taken aback. "Prove...I'm a...?"

Viridi shrugged. "Duh! I can't just let you in outright! There's no way I'm recruiting a warrior that can't even handle basic combat! You're going to need to prove yourself! Which means you're facing the Nature Trials!"

"The Nature trials?"

Dark Pit turned to you. "A couple of challenges Viridi made to recruit new warriors to her Forces of Nature. I completed them just fine, so you should have no problem, (y/n)."

"Whoa whoa, stop right there," you say, putting your hands up to let yourself speak before Dark Pit could go any further, "What's this 'Forces of Nature?'"

Viridi stiffened. "What?! Dark Pit, you didn't decide to explain?!"

Dark Pit also tensed. "Well, I-"

Viridi groaned before continuing. "The Forces of Nature is an army I created to preserve the natural order! Everything needs to stay in balance, and we need to stop humans from destroying that balance."

You looked away. "Oh. I can see why you hate humans now."

Viridi giggled. "Don't worry about it, you'll be fine as long as you're with me! Now then, we'll begin...right now!"

That took you aback a little bit more.

"Wait, I didn't have time to prepare! Can't we just do this next afternoo-"

But you were suddenly lifted up by a vine and off the mountain, letting out a yelp. Dark Pit rolled his eyes and decided to follow after you to the first trial.

You were set off at the bottom of the mountain as Viridi's giant model hovered over you.

"Alrighty!" she clapped her hands together, "It's time for the first trial of what's fitting for a god's challenge:"

More vines started to ravel all around your sides, forming walls going in many directions.

"A maze! Clear this humongous labyrinth of vines and you complete the first trial! By the way, you're not allowed to fly. You've got an hour. Go!"

That caught you off guard. An hour? There's a time limit? That means you couldn't waste any of it. You wielded your (f/c) bow in your dominant hand and set forward.

Dark Pit peered at you from above as you went through the green warren. This was the first test he dealt with too. Technically, he wasn't exactly "believing" in you, but if you barely just escaped from the Underworld through the pain you were in, then you could definitely complete the trials with no problem.

You went past the walls carefully, trying to examine your surroundings and remember which paths you had already took. There was no way you could squander a second. That's when you heard the sound of running footsteps. A monster bearing twig like legs and a hard-rock beetle horn with a crystal merged inside it was charging towards you like wind. You recognized it due to your knowledge of monsters: A Meeba.

You dodged to the side and allowed the Meeba run into the wall, leaving it slightly stunned. You continued through the maze, finding other monsters along the way.

Lethiniums: flower-shaped creatures that tried to shoot you with long range attacks.

Skreetles: Four legged hard-shelled foes that streak lasers at you in confined spaces.

"Huh. Doesn't seem this maze is the only challenge for me. Good thing I can fight and my knowledge of monsters is endless!" You remarked. One by one, you got past Viridi's soldiers with strategy and wit. Even the Goddess of Nature herself seemed impressed.

"Ooh, someone knows what they're doing!" She turned towards Dark Pit. "Do tell me where you found this fallen angel!"

Dark Pit glanced at Viridi before speaking.

"(Y/n) arrived in Skyworld with their wings burning. I saved them from a fall that would've been deadly."

The child-like model giggled once more. "That was bold, and very uh...different of you, Dark Pit."

Dark Pit averted his gaze. "I couldn't just leave 'em there."

The two didn't say anything else. You continued to move through the maze, dozing and evading the creatures that Viridi put in there. The monsters were the easy part, but the puzzle was twisted and more difficult to get through.

"Tick tock (y/n)! Half of your time is out the window!" Viridi yelled.

You shuddered a little bit as you treaded forward, the pressure dropping on you like rain.

"What is your problem?!" You yelled back. Judging by the blonde's grin, half of the reason she was probably doing this was to get a reaction from you. And it was unfortunately working.

No matter. You had to complete this trial else you'll have nowhere else to go. You continued through the maze, fending off the foes and navigating past the vine filled walls, until you reached the arched gate at the end, blocked off by a huge boulder.

There has to be a way to get around this thing...

Suddenly, a red glow emitted from the boulder, as the walls began to transform into a huge ring of leaves and vines. Pebbles fell out from the cracks as the boulder began to transform into a huge stone-like creature with rock feet, rock arms, and of course, a rock face.

"What the?!"

"Mm, yeah, I forgot to mention," said Viridi, "At the end of each trial you'll have to face off against commander of my army! Let me introduce you to Cragalanche! He's not much of a speaker, but he's tougher than he looks!"

Cragalanche pounded his fists together and started to attack you. His attacks were slow, but they were extremely powerful. Whenever Cragalanche hit the ground with his fists, it created a wave of shock that sent you backwards. You tried to attack him from the front, but there was no avail, as your attacks seemed to have no effect.

"Ten minutes!" Viridi reminded with a smirk.

"You are definitely doing this on purpose!" You retorted. But she wasn't wrong. You had to finish this fast...

Cragalanche launched an attack at you, leaving him vulnerable, as you evaded out of the way, then you aimed for his back, striking with one of your blades...

The effect was different. It was weak there...

That's what you had to do. Wait for Cragalanche to launch an attack, then attack him from behind when he was open.

That's what you kept doing. You kept doing that strategy until Cragalanche was sprawled on his back, lying on the ground in defeat. You sighed, clearly exhausted. Two minutes were left on the clock. You won.

Viridi clapped, using her goddess powers to recede the vibes around you two. "Bravo! Bravo! You're not too bad! Though that doesn't mean it's over yet! I'll set up the second trial! In the meanwhile, go find a hot spring to rest in!"

You nodded, feeling determined to complete Viridi's next challenge.
