Naruto was sitting on the rooftop of the motel he and his team were staying at. He put his hands together and closed his eyes.

Naruto: <thinking> If we just do what we always do, we'll never find Sasuke. I've got to use Sage Mode. I need to make it last longer!

(Y/N), Yamato, and Kakashi landed on the roof behind Naruto.

Yamato: Naruto, come down!

Naruto opened his eyes and looked downwards. A familiar person had shown up.

Naruto: Sai?

Everyone went down to meet with Sai, who had a concerned look on his face.

(Y/N): <to Sai> Wait a minute. You're an ink clone.

Naruto: Sai, what are you doing here?

Sai: I...I wanted to replay to you the plan that Sakura is going to do. She wanted to tell you guys, but she couldn't bring herself to.

(Y/N) and Naruto looked at each other, worried.

Naruto: What plan?

Yamato: What do you mean, Sai?

Sai: We were originally going to stop by, and she would tell you herself... To announce something that she and her Konoha classmates had decided.

(Y/N): What's going on?

Sai stared at Naruto and then at (Y/N). He frowned, like it was painful for him to say this.

Sai: I understand now why Sakura couldn't bring herself to tell you.

(Y/N): Tell us, Sai.

Sai: Your classmates intend to dispose of Sasuke themselves.

Naruto's eyes widened in shock. (Y/N) furrowed his eyebrows and looked away. Even Kakashi and Yamato were taken aback.

Naruto grabbed Sai by the shoulders.

Naruto: Sakura actually...? Did Sakura really agree to this?! She...she was his teammate, and... There's no way...

Sai: Sasuke will plunge this world into darkness. If we let Sasuke live, he'll spark an international war. He's just another criminal now. And after suffering the Akatsuki assault, no one in Konoha has any sympathy for those aligned with the Akatsuki. Sakura's no fool. She's not a child who doesn't understand the situation or what the circumstances are. That's why she originally tried to come here and tell you.

Naruto: Then why...didn't she tell us herself?!

Kakashi: It's not that easy. She knew it would hurt you two, especially coming from her.

Naruto: Still...

Sai: Actually, Sakura had asked all of us not to tell you guys anything.

(Y/N): So she's really going to try to kill Sasuke?

Sai: She said she wanted to be the one to do it, that it was her duty.

(Y/N) looked up at the sky, a million feelings rushing through him. He couldn't ever imagine Sakura ever committing to ending Sasuke's life.

Yamato: How many people are with Sakura?

Sai: There's me, Kiba, and Rock Lee with her right now.

(Y/N): And you're all planning to attack Sasuke together...?
