Skull Kid woke up in the morning to Dampé's shouting and shovel waving. Dampé shooed Skull Kid out of his graveyard. Skull Kid wanted to leave anyway. With 1 somber look back at the 2 lone graves sitting on the hill, he kicked the grass and trudged out of the burial ground. The Stalchildren all gathered around Skull Kid and kneeled before him. They knew the pain that he was feeling. Skull Kid kneeled and prayed for his friends. He remembered the great times that they'd had, drawing on trees, writing songs, playing in the woods. He would never get to experience that again. Skull Kid stood up. He walked away from the graveyard. He didn't like it there anymore.
Skull Kid's sweat dripped onto the desert sand. He could have filled a lake with his perspiration. Everything started spinning around Skull Kid. Around and around. Skull Kid sank his knees into the hot ground. Suddenly, 2 familiar little balls flew towards him. Skull Kid could not believe what he was taking in. Tatl and Tael, the fairies who he thought were dead, were flying over to him. Skull Kid ran straight over to his friends, arms open wide to greet Tatl and Tael. When they drifted over to his chest, he pasted right through them. Dumbfounded, he waved his hands through their glowing bodies. His fingers wafted through them. Then Skull Kid blinked his eyes. When he opened them, Tatl and Tael were just hallucinations.
Behind him, Skull Kid heard someone yelling in his direction. When Skull Kid turned around, he saw a purple-robed figure. Not knowing whether or not he was to be trusted, Skull Kid slowly inched over to him. As he came closer, he saw that his face was a golden mask, with 2 blank eye holes. Masks. Skull Kid got some flashbacks of the days where he had a mask. There was a rock. It had glowing, bright eyes. It was coming closer and closer. Right before it hit him, he was whisked straight back to the desert. The creature invited Skull Kid into his house. Without thinking, Skull Kid followed the Garo into his house.
