Kai's POV
I stood beside Alpha Jeremy as we watched his Beta interrogate the rogue we captured during the fight. When Troy and I arrived with our warriors we had no time to waste because the rogues were attacking. We jumped into the fight and helped Alpha Jeremy and his men push the rogues back. We captured one and spent the next two days trying to torture information out of him, but he wasn't very giving.
Troy walked into the dungeon and stood beside me. He crossed his arms over his chest in a tense stance and I could feel the tension rolling off of him.
"What's going on with you?" I asked.
"Nothing," he muttered.
"It must be something, because even I can feel that something is bothering you and you're not a part of my pack," Alpha Jeremy said from beside me. He looked over at Troy and took in his stance. "What is it, Beta Troy?"
Troy didn't respond right away, but after a minute he grumbled. "I can't get a hold of Paige."
"Maybe she's just busy. Try again later," I said.
"That's the thing. I've tried her for the last few days. I can't even reach Alec," he said.
My head whipped around to him. "Alec isn't responding?" We didn't have cellphonesin our pack. There was no reason for it, because we could just mindlink whoever we wanted to talk to. I had a phone in my office so that I could keep in contact with the Alpha's of other packs. We couldn't mindlink with so much distance between us, but Troy should have been able to reach the pack house phone. Troy shook his head.
"Let's go to my office," Jeremy said. Jeremy knocked on the window in front of us. Beta Nick turned his head and after a minute of Jeremy mindlinking him, he nodded and turned back to the rogue. Jeremy led us out of the dungeon and through the packhouse to his office. When we walked in the phone on his desk was already ringing. He rushed over to it before the call ended. "Alpha Jeremy," he said into the phone. He held the phone out to me and I took it from him.
"Alec, what's going on?" I asked as soon as the phone was to my ear.
"Kai, thank Goddess."
"Mom? What's going on? Where's Alec?"
"He's probably in the mix of wolves outside of the packhouse. Your father is out there assisting with them right now. Chandra was able to finally tell us where you were. By the way we will talk about the fact that you chose a mate and your father and I haven't met her until now."
"Ma, what's going on? Why are you in the packhouse?" I cut her off before she could go on a tangent.
"You need to get back to the pack, now."
"I'm on my way." I hung up before she could say anything else. "Gather the warriors. We have to get back to the pack."
"What happened?" Troy asked.
"I don't know, but it sounded urgent. We wasted enough time already. Sorry Jeremy."
"No offense taken. I'm coming with you."
"You don't have to."
"I know I don't, but you were here for me and I'll be there for you. Nick can manage the pack until I return."
"Thank you."
We all left the office quickly. I ran to the room assigned to me by Jeremy and grabbed my things. By the time I made it outside Troy was ready with our warriors. Jeremy's warriors stood around and waited for orders. We gathered everyone up in our cars and Jeremy's and headed home. I hoped that Chandra was okay.
