Kai's POV

I shifted back to my human form and looked around at the destruction around me. After Chandra had said that she needed air and left our room I headed down to the gym to blow off steam. I could feel how upset she was, but I wanted to give her the space she needed to work through everything I had told her. I pounded into the punching bag as I thought about her possibly mating with Jeremy. She knew now that she had possibilities and I worried that she would leave me.

Troy entered and took space in front of another punching bag. I knew that my Alpha aura was rolling off of me in heavy waves and would usually be too much for anyone to handle, but Troy didn't even flinch. He looked like he had a lot on his mind as he took off his shirt and started hitting the bag. I assured Valerie that Chandra was fine and we worked out our frustration in quiet until I couldn't throw another punch and collapsed to the floor. Troy sat down beside me breathing heavily.

"They want you to mate with her," I said through my breath.

"I'm not going to," he said. "Paige heard them."

"I'm sorry man."

"It's fine. You just need to hurry up and mark Chandra."

"I told her. So now she knows she's not stuck with me."

Troy groaned and threw himself back on the floor. Valerie linked me to tell me that Jeremy was with Chandra, but I didn't say anything. If he was her mate I couldn't do anything to get in between them. Troy and I didn't say another word until a warrior linked us that rogues were attacking. We jumped up and linked all the warriors to the perimeter that was breached and for everyone who couldn't fight to stay in their homes. Valerie assured us that Paige and Chandra were in my office that also served as a safe room.

I shifted into Ade and we jumped right into the fighting. The rogues were surprisingly well-trained, but my wolves were better. In the midst of our fighting the wolves started to retreat.

"Alpha, should we go after them?" Mark rushed over to me.

"No. Let them go. Let's get our injured to the hospital and if any of them are still alive we'll get them to the dungeon."

"Valerie!" I turned around as Troy rushed over to where Valerie stood checking over Alec. "Where's Paige?" I walked over to them.

"I sent her and Chandra to the safe room in the Alpha suite," she answered.

"What's going on?" I asked when I got to them.

"I tried to mind link Paige but she's not answering," he said in a rush/

Chandra? I called through the link and was met with nothing but silence. "Something's wrong?"

I shifted back into Ade and rushed to the pack house. I could feel Troy, Alec, and Valerie behind me. When I was back in human form, I grabbed a pair of shorts from a basket on the porch and rushed through the doors. My feet pounded on the stairs as I ran up. The door to the suite was open and I hurried inside and to the office. My heart dropped when I saw the door open and found the office empty.

"Alpha." I turned to Alec and he waved me forward with a nod of his head. I followed back to the hall and found food scattered on the floor. I must have missed it on my rush to the office.

"They're gone," I said. I understood why Chandra would be missing. She was the wolf the rogues were looking for, but I didn't know why they would take Paige as well. I didn't feel any links breaking so I had to assume that she was still alive.

"I'm so sorry Alpha. I should have come to the safe room with them," Valerie said.

"It's not your fault," I assured her.
