Y/n camped out in Barty's dorm for five days, only leaving for quidditch practice. She refused to speak to anyone and even sent an owl to Professor Dumbledore explaining that she needed to take a couple of days off from prefect duty which he hesitantly gave her.
"Y/n, do you wanna talk about it? It's been five days. You have to get back to class," Evan sat down next to her.
"No I don't," y/n muttered. "I can just rot in here,"
"She speaks!" Caius threw his hands up.
"Y/n, please tell us what happened," Barty said.
Y/n shook her head but got out of Barty's bed.
"I guess I should go back to class," y/n sighed.
"Are you sure?" Barty asked. "It's Thursday, you might as well just skip class today and tomorrow,"
"She can't," Regulus appeared in the doorway. "You have to go to class today and tomorrow to play on Saturday. Besides, I need someone in our muggle studies class to talk to,"
"Yeah, you're right," y/n sighed.
"Besides, there might be a surprise in class," Barty said with a grin.
Barty let her borrow one of his old uniforms so they could head right to class. Y/n was dreading her classes, mainly because it was dada, and Remus was in there but also because she had no excuse to ditch prefect duty during fourth block. Y/n entered the classroom next to Barty and immediately saw that the Marauders stopped talking and stared at her.
Y/n avoided eye contact with them, choosing to look at the floor as she sat down at her desk. She stared down at her fingers, subconsciously picking the skin around her fingernails.
"Alright class, today we will be learning about werewolves," Professor Tenebris said cheerfully.
Y/n wanted to shrink down in her seat. Of course her first class back would be about werewolves. She crossed her arms, placing her head in them. She didn't have to take notes on werewolves. She knew everything there was to know from Einar.
"Now, can anyone tell me anything about werewolves?" Tenebris asked the class.
Y/n looked suspiciously at Severus as his hand raised.
"Yes, Mr. Snape," Tenebris called on him.
"Werewolves are rabid beasts who should be contained," he began. "They're dangerous people to society who once a month go on a killing rampage,"
He continued on his rant about how they were a 'danger to society' and y/n couldn't take it. She looked back at the already fuming Marauders and saw as Remus shrank back in his seat further and further.
Yes, she did hate him at the moment but she would always defend werewolves.
she stood up, pushing her seat backwards in the process and glared at the already standing Severus.
"I completely disagree with everything you're saying," y/n said. "Werewolves have no control over their transformation and even if they did, they're still humans,"
Y/n went on a counter rant, pulling out all of the information she'd learned over the summer from Einar.
"Jeez y/n, with the way you're defending them, maybe you're a werewolf," Severus smirked at her. "I wouldn't be surprised if you were. You've always been strange,"
Whispers erupted from the classroom.
"I wish I was so I could have an excuse for killing you," y/n said. "Although I'm sure no one would blame me if I did,"
"Alright, I think this is enough of a debate for today," Tenebris tried to intervene.
"No, I'd really like to hear how y/n thinks werewolves aren't dangerous," Snape said.
"They're no more dangerous than you or I," y/n said, glaring at him. "And something you seem to continuously forget is that they are still people,"
"People who kill,"
"Please, I could kill you so much easier than a werewolf could," y/n rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, I'll make it my mission to track down every werewolf and personally kill them," Snape said.
Y/n snapped, ignoring her wand, she flung herself at Severus, knocking him to the ground. Everyone in class stood up, watching in shock as y/n beat the pulp out of Snape. Tenebris was trying her hardest to tear y/n off of him but it wasn't working.
"Dude, use that werewolf strength," James whispered to Remus. "You gotta stop her from killing him,"
Although Remus was still in shock after hearing y/n's speech protecting werewolves, he knew James was right. He pushed through the circle that had already formed around the fight. He grabbed y/n around her waist, pulling her off of Snape. She fought, trying to get him to let her go but he held on firmly.
"You broke my nose!" Snape cried.
"And I'd do it again!" Y/n said. "Let me go,"
"Only if you won't kill him," Remus joked.
But she didn't even smile. Y/n pushed herself out of his grip and stepped away from him.
"Miss Crouch! That behavior is not acceptable in my classroom!" Tenebris said.
"It's my fault," a voice said. "I taught her to defend werewolves with her heart and her fist,"
Remus saw y/n's head whip around and her bloodied face light up. She rushed to the doorway where the voice was coming from, trapping him in a hug.
"Einar!" Y/n smiled.
He was a younger 5 9' man with golden skin and short cut black hair and brown eyes. Remus couldn't help but feel a light jealousy build up in his chest as y/n hugged him.
"Mr. Gattas, I suppose I can ignore the violence," Tenebris smiled. "Class, as a surprise, today we have a special guest to teach you about werewolves. A werewolf and Hogwarts graduate, Mr. Einar Gattas,"
Einar.
Remus remembered seeing that name in y/n's notebook. He must've been the one that she drew and learned everything from.
"If you don't mind, I would like to have Miss Crouch assist me with my teaching," Einar said.
"If you wish," Tenebris smiled.
"What about my nose!" Snape yelled.
Tenebris cast a spell that fixed his nose and cleaned y/n up.
"Now," Einar started. "You have already heard two very passionate opinions on werewolves but what would you like to know?"
The rest of the class Remus spent gazing at y/n as she helped Einar teach the class.
"She really knows a lot about werewolves," Peter whispered to Remus.
"Yeah, she does," James said, looking at Remus.
Remus was distracted by his thoughts. He was amazed that y/n defended werewolves with such a passion that even he wouldn't use. And when she started hitting Snape, he wanted to tell her he was sorry for everything he said.
He regretted saying what he'd said the second it left his mouth, but five days later, the guilt was still eating him alive.
How could he have ever not trusted her?
When class ended, Remus rushed out of his seat to try and talk to y/n but she was still talking to Einar. He leaned against the wall outside of the classroom, waiting for y/n.
He needed to talk to her.
To apologize.
He was an asshole and he needed to apologize.
"Don't wait for her," a voice said.
I was her friend Evan. He stood there, alone, arms crossed and a pissed off expression.
"Even though she won't tell us, I know that her whole episode has to do with you," Evan said. "And I don't know what you did but whatever it is, just leave it. Leave her alone. You've hurt her enough,"
Remus just stood there and looked at him. Evan stared him down and nodded for him to leave. Remus pushed himself off of the wall, figuring he could just talk to her undisturbed during their patrol.
"So y/n," Einar said, inside of the classroom. "Wanna tell me why your brother called me to the school?"
"He did?" Y/n asked.
"Yeah, he convinced your teacher to bring me in. I think he said something about you not leaving his room for a week?"
"It was five days," y/n rolled her eyes.
"Well, wanna tell me what happened?"
"I,uhm, there's this boy," y/n said.
"Ah, a boy. It's always a boy,"
"He's different. He's like you," y/n inferred.
"He's like- oh," Einar understood. "And did he tell you this?"
"Not really. I didn't know it was him. I thought I was just helping a random werewolf who lived near school grounds. But it turned out to be my prefect partner," y/n explained. "And I kept it secret. But he hurt me and figured it out,"
"And he got mad?" Einar asked.
"Extremely. He called me a disgusting pureblood Slytherin who couldn't be trusted," y/n winced at remembering his words.
"Harsh," Einar sighed. "We'll talk more later, you've got to get to class,"
He ruffled her head and walked her out the classroom. Y/n gave him a quick hug goodbye before bounding to her next class.
When it came time for prefect duty, both y/n and Remus had a plan for how it would go. Y/n planned on staying silent the whole time, which she assumed Remus would do too. Remus, on the other hand, wanted to talk and apologize.
Remus walked up to the great hall and saw y/n give him a slight side eye before beginning their patrol without him. He jogged to catch up and even then, she looked the opposite way.
"Y/n, can we-" Remus started.
"Talk? No," y/n cut him off.
Remus' heart deflated. She'd gone back to how she acted before they'd gotten to know each other. She'd become cold again. Not that he could blame her. They continued their patrol, walking on opposite sides of the hallway. Remus would glance over at her every now and then, only to see her staring out the windows. When they neared the end of their route, Remus was about to speak but y/n beat him to it.
"I would like to make one thing clear," she turned to him. "Yes, I may be a pureblood and yes I may be a Slytherin but never rope me into that category ever again just because I cared,"
"Yeah, I think you made it clear you aren't like them in dada," Remus tried to joke.
Y/n's face didn't change, seeming that she'd been frozen, and she just turned around, hands behind her back and left, leaving Remus standing there.
"I am sorry," Remus called out to her. "Can you listen to me?"
She did not listen to him.
At least not that day.
