It was Sunday morning, and Sabrina, Draycie, and I prepared ourselves for a trip to Hogsmeade. I was going to spend the entire morning with Sabrina and Draycie and then spend the rest of the afternoon with Orion. Draycie had a date with Abraxas.

I did not have any clothes to wear, but I planned to buy some on our trip. For now, Draycie lent me a long black dress. It was not my style, but I had to admit that it looked quite flattering on me. Draycie wore a luxurious green blouse paired with a knee-length skirt, definitely the fashion of the time. Sabrina wore a blue dress, revealing her curves, which were usually hidden under the Hogwarts uniform.

"You look stunning," I told Sabrina.

"All the boys will be staring, especially Zabini," Draycie added, causing Sabrina to roll her eyes. However, Draycie and I both noticed her subtle blush at the mention of Francesco.

"I knew she fancied him!" I clapped my hands in excitement. It had been a while since I'd had girl talk about crushes.

"We're just very good friends," she answered, but the way she smiled when she thought of him gave it away. Draycie and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. Sabrina was in love, and she just didn't know it yet. Or maybe she didn't want to admit it.

Sabrina then proceeded to push us out of the dormitory. "Let's go, Melia needs to purchase some clothes, and I really want to go to the bookshop."

"Of course you do," Draycie teased.

Abraxas was waiting for his lady in front of the common room. Next to him were Orion, Francesco, Evren, Kylian, and, of course, Riddle. I rolled my eyes at the sight of him. I noticed how Abraxas couldn't take his light blue eyes off Draycie. Once she walked up to him, he grabbed her hand and gave it a gentle kiss.

Men were romantic in this era.

Orion gave me a grin. "You are gorgeous, Amelia."

"Why, thank you. You look absolutely ravishing, Orion." He was wearing a pair of expensive black pants with a gold belt and a forest green sweater. Everything on him dripped of money. It was clear that Orion and Draycie came from the Black family. Scratch that... it was clear that everyone in the same room as me came from a privileged family. For Merlin's sake, the lot of them—Black, Lestrange, Rosier, Selwyn, Zabini—were all part of the Sacred Twenty-Eight and loaded with money. The only odd ones out were Riddle and me.

I blended in quite well in Draycie's clothes, but Riddle did not. He wore a pair of thin black pants with a black jumper. If you looked closely, there were a few holes at the elbows which he seemed to have tried to conceal with a spell.

I always wondered why the first generation of Death Eaters followed him. Tom Riddle was nothing but a poor orphan boy, with no money, no power, and no influence. So why follow him when you have all the power and wealth in the Wizarding World? Were his magical capabilities really that extraordinary at this young age?

Now we were making our way to Hogsmeade. The walk was filled with utter calmness and joy; I soaked it all in, and memories of the past flooded my mind. The leaves on the bushy trees were all slowly turning orange and red. I stepped on a few leaves just to hear the crunching sound. It was beautiful.

"So, Amelia," Kylian said with a thick French accent. He had very long hair and dark eyes. Lestrange was tall and muscular, making his presence intimidating. My eyes followed his forearms, which were covered in the same dark hair as his head. He was certainly hairier than the other boys.

"I heard you are trying out for ze Quidditch team." I looked down at my feet, avoiding his question. He honestly scared me since our duel. In the duel, I felt as if he was holding back in front of the teachers. I didn't want to think about what dark spells he'd pronounce if Miss Contrefort wasn't in the room. I didn't want anything to do with him, to be quite honest. Kylian hadn't come to the party nor on our little joyride the other night, which was a bit odd in my opinion since he was part of the Quidditch team, yet he knew about me potentially joining the team. That meant that Evren or Orion must have spoken about the possibility.
