Dear Caitlin,
Today, I decided to visit the lake where we spent so many weekends. It was our special place, a refuge from the world where we could just be ourselves. I remember how you loved to swim, your laughter echoing across the water as you splashed and played. I sat by the shore for hours, watching the ripples and remembering our time together.
I brought your favorite blanket and lay down, staring up at the sky. The clouds drifted by, and I imagined us lying there together, pointing out shapes and sharing dreams. It's hard to believe that you're gone, that I'll never hear your voice again or feel your touch. Writing to you helps, but it also makes me realize how much I've lost. I miss you so much, Caitlin. I miss everything about you.
On my way back, I stopped by the little ice cream shop we used to visit. I got your favorite flavor, but it didn't taste the same without you. I sat there with out you.
