Dear Caitlin,
Today was a day of reflection and tears. I visited the park where we first met. I sat on the same bench where we shared our first conversation, where our journey began. I remember how nervous I was, how you put me at ease with your kindness and your smile. It was as if the universe conspired to bring us together that day, and now it feels like a cruel joke that you're no longer here.
I brought a book with me, the one we always talked about reading together. I opened it to the first page and imagined you beside me, sharing your thoughts on the story, your laughter filling the air. But as I sat there, the silence was deafening. The park was full of families, couples, and children playing, all enjoying their lives while mine has come to a halt. The contrast between their happiness and my sorrow was almost unbearable.
In the evening, I went to the restaurant where we used to have our date nights. I sat at our table, the one with the view of the city lights. I ordered the dishes we always shared, but the food was tasteless without you. I kept glancing at the empty seat across from me, wishing you were there, wishing we could go back to those carefree days. The memories of our dinners together, of the conversations and the laughter, are both a comfort and a source of pain.
I feel like I'm losing myself in the process of trying to hold on to you. Everything I do, every place I go, seems to remind me of what I've lost. I'm trying to keep your memory alive, to honor the love we shared, but it's so hard. The world feels gray and lifeless without you. I'm struggling to find meaning in the mundane, to find purpose in a life that seems so incomplete without you.
I love you more than words can express, Caitlin. I wish I could hold you again, tell you how much you mean to me, how much I miss you. Every day is a battle, and writing to you is the only way I know how to cope. I hope you can feel my love, wherever you are.
Forever in my heart,
Davin
