Macey's POV

It's Sunday, a day I always look forward to for some bonding and relaxation. Unfortunately, today feels far from that ideal. My girlfriend Cally and I had plans to spend the day outdoors, enjoying each other's company and the beautiful weather. However, circumstances have confined us to our home, making us feel like captives of the situation.

Cally, my once joyful and fun-loving girlfriend is a woman of romance and genuine thoughtfulness. However, things have changed since she received her well-deserved promotion. While I am genuinely thrilled and proud of her accomplishment, I can't help but notice that she is no longer as attentive to our relationship as she used to be. It seems like work has taken over her life, even on Sundays.

Elias Aldana holds a special place in our hearts, as it's where our love story began. This town witnessed all our firsts - from our initial meeting to our first heartfelt conversation, our very first date, our first kiss, and now, our first home. It stands as a symbol of the strength of our relationship through thick and thin.

This morning, I woke up at five to prepare breakfast for Cally and to get her things ready for the day. Despite her recent distant behavior, I still want her to feel the warmth of my love every day.

"Hey, Cally, wake up. Breakfast is ready," I whispered to her as she slept peacefully.

"Hmm..." She hummed in response without opening her eyes.

"Wake up, you're going to be late for work," I told her, knowing that this would get her out of bed.

This jolted her awake, and she immediately realized she was running late. "What time is it? I have an important meeting today," she exclaimed.

"It's still early. Take a deep breath, Cally. Let's have breakfast first," I reassured her before heading downstairs.

"Okay, I'll be right there," she mumbled softly, but where was the good morning kiss? Sometimes, I feel like I'm just a neighbor to her.

I settled at the dining table, taking a moment to sip my coffee and wait for her.

"Thank you for the breakfast, Macey," she said as she joined me at the table, immediately digging into her food without asking about my sleep. I used to hear her asking about my dreams and how I slept before we ate, but now, only the sound of her notifications filled the air.

"Cally, what time will you be home later?" I asked as she seemed engrossed in reading something I couldn't see.

She didn't respond. "Cally..." I called her attention again, but still, there was silence. "Cally!" I raised my voice a bit, hoping to get through to her.

Annoyed, she looked at me with a frown. "What now, Macey? Can't you see I'm busy reading emails here?" I was taken aback. She never used to treat me this way. What happened to you, Cally?

"Okay, I'm sorry. Carry on," I said quietly, not saying another word throughout breakfast.

We ate in silence, each absorbed in our thoughts. I missed the days when she would enthusiastically share stories about her work and colleagues. It feels like I woke up one day and she was a completely different person.

When she already finished her food, she walked upstairs to fix herself without saying a word to me. I chose not to follow her. I'm scared that I might be a disturbance to her again.

*Ding dong

The doorbell suddenly buzzed but we're not expecting any visitor today. Who could this be?

I opened the door and saw a kid, around ten years old. "Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked the kid.

She just smiled at me and replied, "I'm sorry to bother you. I'm selling newspaper, would you like to have one?"

"Yeah, sure. How much is it?" I asked her. She's a good kid.

"Ah, just ten." She said and smiled at me, handling the newspaper.

"Thank you, very much," I said.

"Thank you very much, unnie." She said smiling at me again.

"Yes, I'm on my way. Let's meet at the office, okay?" I heard Cally talking to someone on her phone opening the door. I can see the smile on her face while talking to someone.

"Are you going to work now?" I asked her.

"Yes, please excuse me." She said, walking in our midst. Stepping away from me without even saying goodbye.

I was embarrassed because the kid saw the scenario. "Who is she unnie?" The kid asked me.

I just smiled at the kid and said, "She's my girlfriend."

"Ah, she looks so busy." She stated.

"Yeah, she is." I said.

"Are you sure she loves you?" The kid asked and I was taken aback.

"What kind of question is that? You know what, little girl? Go home and eat your breakfast, okay?" I said to the kid but she just looked at me.

"Okay, unnie. I hope you still buy the newspaper tomorrow." She said joyfully.

"Of course, I would. Come back tomorrow morning." I promised her. "By the way, what's your name?" I asked her.

"My name is Miri." She said and walked away from me.
