It was the middle of the night, two days after Hannah had gotten completely drunk. The twins were sleeping on the couches again, after watching a couple of movies, and eating popcorn. Hannah heard the door unlock. She immediately woke up. She looked over at Robby who was still half asleep.

“Robby?” Hannah whispered. “Robby, wake up!” Hannah threw one of her pillows at him and he jolted up.

“What?” Robby whispered.

The apartment door then creaked open. “Someone's here.” Hannah whispered as the clattering from the kitchen continued.

Robby rolled over to see who it was. There was a guy standing right at the door. “Come on, get the stuff and let's get out of here.” He said.

Robby quietly rolled onto his feet. He looked at Hannah, putting a finger over his lips. “Stay here.” He whispered.

“Let's go. We don't have all day.” The guy said again.

Robby ran and pushed himself up on the counter, using both of his legs to kick the guy on the ground. Stuff clattered everywhere. The lights came on and Hannah stood up.

“Oh my God, Rick.” Shan said. “Are you okay?” She ran over to the guy on the ground and helped him up.

“Mom?” Hannah questioned as she walked into the kitchen beside her brother.

“Robby, what is wrong with you?” Shan asked her son.

“What's wrong with me?” Robby questioned. “You haven't been here in days. We thought someone broke in.”

“OK.” Shan said. “OK, OK. I'm sorry.”

“You're sorry?” Hannah looked at her mother. She chuckled “You're sorry? I mean, it's been what? A month since you've been home, and you're sorry?”

“Hannah.” Robby said, as he grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back. “It's okay.”

“It's okay? It's not okay!” Hannah told her brother. “What are you doing back here?”

“I just came to grab a few things, um, ‘cause, uh, Rick is flying me to Cabo.” Shan told the kids.

“Cabo-adjacent.” the guy told her.

“OK.” Shan said.

“Wait. You're going to Mexico?” Robby asked.

“Uh-huh.” The twin’s mom said.

Hannah chuckled. “I'm not surprised.” Hannah didn't believe half of the words he mom said sometimes. Mainly because she was never at the house, and she was a drug addict. Yes, she still loved her and all but she never got to experience a decent mother-daughter relationship. Just like Robby never experienced a father-son relationship.

“With this guy?” Robby asked. “For how long? I mean, we have rent to pay, and I don't, we don't have-”

“Don't worry about that because, Rick, you're paying this month, right?” Shan asked the guy.

“I got you, pal.” The guy chuckled.

“OK.” Shan kept looking around. “Oh. That's what I need.” She grabbed her medicine off of the counter.

“When are you coming back?” Robby asked her.

“A few days.” Shan looked at Rick for reassurance.

“Um, week and a half, tops.” The guy said.

“Yeah.” Shan said. “So, you two have the whole place to yourselves.” She walked closer to the twins. “Don't party too hard.” She cupped their faces. “I'll call you guys tomorrow, OK, sweeties?” She kissed both of them on the forehead. “I love you guys.” She walked out of the room.
