Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: The Sixth Member

S1-E23: All Fear the Freak

20 years ago, the original Mystery Incorporated are making their way through the Crystal Cove caverns underneath the old Spanish Church. They haven't encountered the thing they saw yet, but they will eventually. Judy: "Are you sure this is the way." Pericles: "My calculations don't lie. Why are we stopping?" Brad: "Because of that." he says pointing to a treasure chest on top of a mountain of skulls. Evan: "Sweet Gaia." Pericles: "The planispheric disc." The group hop their way to the other side where the chest is. Cassidy is about to be the first one to climb the skulls, but Evan pulls her back. Evan: "Cassidy, no!" Cassidy: "What?! What's wrong?" Evan kneels toward the skull where there are multiple trip wires. He tugs at one of them with his finger and a spear nearly pokes him. "Reow!" he screams like a cat as he flips back to see multiple spears come out of the skulls.

Ricky: "Ding-dong, daddy-o! Booby trapped!" Pericles: "Judy, if I may borrow your locket." Judy takes off her locket and gives it to Pericles, he flies up to the chest and uses the locket to open the chest safely. The group looks on with a smile as they see a glow coming from the chest and make their way up. Pericles looks in the chest with disappointment and confusion. "I don't understand. There are 6 pieces. Where are the other 5?" Evan: "Just as I thought. All 6 pieces must've been hidden separately." he says as he takes the piece out of the chest, but it triggers another trap that was in the chest. The whole cave starts to rumble as water pours out, flooding the whole cave. Evan: "Ugh! Of course the piece itself had to be a trap!" Cassidy: "Run!" The group run for their lives as Pericles follows behind with Judy's locket. He accidentally drops it when spears are shot out of the wall and he almost gets hit by one. The locket is carried away in the water.

Evan: "Don't look back! Keep going!" The group eventually makes it out of the cave before they are blocked off, landing on a small platform. Evan: "Whew." he says as he stares at the piece before it was taken from him by Pericles. "Hey!" Pericles: "Good job, Evan. Now all we need is the other 5 pieces and the treasure is--" Freak: "Mine!" Pericles turns around to see the Freak of Crystal Cove. "You."

Back to the present, Velma is typing away at her computer at night time. Her mom hears the noise and enters the room. Angie: "Velma, it's late. Enough typing. I thought for a second our poltergeist was back." Velma: "Sorry, mom. Just finishing vlogging." As soon as Angie left the room and closed the door, Velma typed "Midnight" to her friends. They receive the message and get ready to leave without their parents noticing. Fred: "Dad, I'm going to bed, now! Do you need anything?!" he shouts from his room, but receives no answer. "Dad?" Fred makes his way downstairs to see his dad in front of the fireplace while holding a picture of Fred's mother. Fred: "You miss her, don't you?" Mayor: "Dangling donuts shrimp, Fred. Don't startle me like that!" he says as he puts the picture frame down. "I could have been armed." "Sorry. I just wanted to say good night." "Oh, I'm sorry, Fred. I shouldn't have snapped at you. Despite your obsession with your goofy little mystery club, I do love you son. I hope you know that." "I do."

Fred gives a sad face as he watches his father walk away before turning his attention to the keys on the table. He grabs them and texts to the gang "We're all set" before exiting the house to go to City Hall, where the rest of the gang will be waiting. Nakala: "...It's time. The Freak dies tonight." he tells his siblings who nod in response before he leaves the house. Nakala is also not wearing the Dead Justice costume anymore. Fred shows up at City Hall to see the rest of the gang. Nakala: "There you are, Fredster." Shaggy: "Like, where's the Mystery Machine?" Scooby: "Yeah." Fred: "I left it at home in case my dad woke up." he says as he takes out the keys. "I'm still not happy about all this." Velma snatches the keys from him. Velma: "We're just going to check out his office." "Fine. But I know he's not involved in the cursed treasure or the planispheric disc, no matter what Pericles says." Nakala: "You can't let your attachments to someone fool you, Fred. After what I've gathered from what we've seen of the mayor's actions and words, he's involved." he says as he looks at his notebook. Seeing him at Darrow college after we got out of the Darrow mansion was my first hint."
