It was the last day of January, I came home from a long day of sorting paperwork to get the books ready for the new month. I walked back to the bedroom loosening my tie and pulling it off my neck.

"Hey honey," Annie said from the closet.

"Yeah babe?" I responded.

She walked out to face me. "I'm pregnant." She said. She said it with very little emotion, like it was a statement, like saying that she went to the store today or that she was going to breakfast with her mom in the morning, no excitement.

"Ok." Was all I said back to her, and she went back to the laundry.

We went through the rest of our evening like we normally would. We ate dinner, I did the dishes, we watched a little tv... she ironed my shirt for tomorrow, we brushed our teeth and we got into bed, like we do every night. Her actions were regular, but this big news was looming over the room.

I pulled her close to me, was laying on her back and i placed my hand on her belly, "You ok Annie?" I said as I made little circles with my thumb right below her navel.

"Yeah." She said with a long sigh. "I just I'm not ready to be excited. Honestly, I'm scared."

"I understand." I said. "We'll just take it day by day."

"I don't wanna tell anyone yet. Not for a while."

"that's fine baby." I said as I ran my fingers up and down her body until she fell asleep.

I ran to the store the next day on my lunch. I picked Annie up some Gatorade, honey nut cheerios, lifesavers and ginger ale, plus a bag of pretzels for myself.

"I'm home babe!" I hollered as I walked in the door, holding the paper bag. She was in the kitchen starting dinner.

I started pulling stuff out of the bag. "I got you a few things, just some stuff if you start to feel nauseous."

"Aww Eddie! Thank you! My husband... I love you!" she said wrapping her arms around my neck.

"so, I did some math" she said as she went back to making dinner. "I think I'm 6 weeks."

"6 weeks." I thought for a moment. "That would have been the week of the Christmas party at the dealership! You horny little girl, I couldn't keep you off me! You wanted a baby in you! You pulled me in the bathroom to bend you over because you couldn't wait until we got home."

She rolled her eyes then giggled. I wrapped my arms around her and pushed her back to the counter.

"And! You were waking me up before work because you wanted morning sex..." I trailed off leaving a couple kisses on her neck.

She giggled "I know... maybe I did do that... I can't help it. Sometimes I just need you."

Two weeks later we had an appointment with Dr. Randall.

She gave a little knock on the door. "Andromeda? It looks like there has been a change to your chart here. You're Last name is different, did you guys get married?"

We both nodded, smiling.

"Well congratulations! And welcome back! So, based on the date of your last period...." She said spinning her little wheel " your due date is October 15th. How are you feeling so far?"
