It had been a week since Gutter had been taken away, and the town had slowly returned to its peaceful routine. However, a new problem had arisen that was causing quite a stir. Bananas were disappearing from every grocery store and fruit stand in town, leaving the residents in an uproar. People loved their bananas, and the sudden shortage was driving them to desperate measures, with some even locking up their kids without bananas.
James, Cristena, Jack, and Riland gathered in the park to discuss the strange happenings.
"Who's stealing all the bananas?" Jack asked, munching on an apple. "And why bananas, of all things?"
Cristena shrugged. "I don't know, but we've got to figure it out. People are going crazy without their bananas."
James nodded thoughtfully. "Whoever it is, they're only stealing bananas at night. We'll need to camp out and keep watch to catch them in the act."
Riland made a face. "Camping out for days just to catch a banana thief? This better be worth it."
"It will be," James assured him. "Let's get our supplies ready."
That night, the four friends set up their campsite near the largest grocery store in town, where the banana thefts had been most frequent. They brought sleeping bags, snacks, and plenty of water, preparing for the possibility of a long stakeout.
They took turns keeping watch, and on the third night, Cristena, who was on duty, saw a shadowy figure moving near the store. She quickly woke the others.
"Guys, look!" she whispered urgently.
They watched as the figure, barely visible in the moonlight, moved stealthily from the store, carrying a large sack.
"Let's follow it," James said quietly. "But stay hidden."
They trailed the figure through the streets, keeping a safe distance. Eventually, the figure disappeared into the woods at the edge of town. The friends set up camp again, deciding to wait until morning to investigate further.
When they woke up, they discovered that Jack was missing.
"Where is he?" Cristena asked, panic in her voice.
James frowned. "He must have gone searching on his own. We need to find him."
They split up and began searching the area. After a tense hour, they found Jack sitting under a tree, clutching his ankle in pain.
"Jack!" Riland exclaimed, rushing over. "What happened?"
"I twisted my ankle," Jack said, grimacing. "I tried to follow the figure, but I lost sight of it and got lost."
James helped Jack to his feet. "Let's get you back to camp. We need to fix up that ankle."
Back at camp, Cristena used a first aid kit to bandage Jack's ankle. As they sat around discussing their next move, Riland brought up a random topic.
"You know, all this talk about mysterious figures got me thinking," he said. "Bigfoot isn't even real, right?"
Jack laughed. "Definitely not. Just a bunch of stories."
James, however, looked thoughtful. "Maybe, but we still need to catch this thief. Tonight, we'll set up traps and take shifts. One of us will stay awake at all times."
That night, the friends took turns keeping watch. On James's shift, he heard rustling nearby. He peeked through the bushes and saw the figure again. His eyes widened as the figure stepped into the moonlight—it was Bigfoot!
James's heart pounded, but he quickly formulated a plan. He quietly woke the others.
"It's Bigfoot," he whispered. "We need to act fast. I'll lead him away, and you guys tie him up. Then we'll use the sleeping dart."
Cristena, Jack, and Riland nodded, ready for action. James took a deep breath and stepped out from behind the bushes.
"Hey, Bigfoot!" he called out.
Bigfoot turned, eyes narrowing. James took off running, and Bigfoot followed, lumbering after him.
The others quickly sprang into action, setting up the rope trap. As James led Bigfoot into the trap, they pulled the rope tight, tripping the creature and bringing it to the ground. Cristena shot the sleeping dart, and Bigfoot quickly fell into a deep slumber.
"We did it!" Cristena exclaimed, high-fiving the others.
James called the police, who arrived shortly after. The officers were stunned to find Bigfoot tied up and unconscious.
"This is incredible," one officer said. "We'll take him to the zoo. He'll be a huge attraction."
The friends watched as Bigfoot was loaded into a police van.
As the van drove away, James turned to the others with a grin. "Looks like we solved another mystery."
Cristena laughed. "Who would've thought it was Bigfoot all along?"
Jack, leaning on his crutch, smiled. "I guess anything's possible."
Riland nodded. "Yeah, and at least now people can have their bananas in peace."
With their mission accomplished, the four friends headed home, ready for whatever adventure might come next.
