Recovery And Improvement

   There it was, the vine that was goanna end my life, then I was saved, but by who? I opened my eyes to see a beautiful girl with pink braided hair that turned green at the tips. Her katana looked like, a ribbon? "Who are you now?!" The demon screeched, "How dare you interrupt me!" The demon added as she sent more vines towards the girl. The girl easily dodged them and cut them down, her moves were so delicate, like a beautiful dance. "What?! How?! Who are you?!" The demon yelled. "My name is Mitsuri Kanroji, and I am the love hashira!" She stated cheerfully. "And my heart could never flutter for someone who hurts others!" She said, as she charged towards the demon. The demon sent out many vines, but the girl cut them down with ease. "NO NO NO GET AWAY!" The demon yelled as she kept sending vines towards the hashira. Kanroji easily cut all of them down and charged towards the demon, "Love Breathing, second form, Love Pangs!" She says as she easily decapitated the demon. "NO NO NO! IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO GO LIKE THIS NO" The demon crumbled away before it could say anything else.

   The vines that had me and Enya captured also crumbled away, we both fell to the ground. Enya was passed out from the blood loss, and I could feel myself losing consciousness. Despite that, I crawled over to her with the last bit of strength I had. "Enya, Enya, please wake up" I mumbled as I held her hand as I passed out.

   I woke up in a hospital bed, a hospital bed?! I got up quickly and looked around I was in a room, I examined my body and noticed someone had treated my wounds. I got up and left the room, if I'm here, Enya must be here too. I continued roaming around for a few minutes before I ran into a little girl with short hair and a pink ribbon on her waist. "oh, you're awake! You shouldn't be up though you could make your injuries worse!" She said, "Where's Enya?" I asked in a low tone. "If you mean the demon slayer that was with you, she's alive but still hasn't woken up." I sigh, relieved to know she was alive, "How long was I out?" I ask, "A week, you and your friend came in with a lot of injuries that could have been fatal! You guys are really lucky lady Kanroji found you!" Kanroji? Right, she was the hashira that saved us. I thought to myself, "You should really get back to bed!" The girl said, "Can I just take a quick walk please?" I ask not wanting to just lay down and do nothing. "Make it a short one please!" The girl said, I nodded and walked away.

   I kept walking around as I thought about everything that had happened, I almost died, I lost, if it wasn't for that hashira, I wouldn't be alive. This keeps happening, people always save me when I'm supposed to be able to save myself, ridiculous. I walked outside and saw a beautiful cherry blossom tree; a girl was standing staring at it. She had beautiful midnight black hair in a ponytail with a butterfly pin holding it up and looked a few years older than me. I decided to walk up to her and try to talk to her, "Um hello?" She turned around to face me but all she did was smile and she didn't respond. I thought she didn't hear me, so I repeated myself, "Hello?" Once again, she didn't answer and instead, flipped a coin? Once she caught it, it had landed on heads and she walked away without a word, odd.

   "Aren't you supposed to be in bed?" I heard a voice tell me from behind, I turned around to see a girl on the roof with black hair that turned to a gorgeous purple in a bun held up with the same butterfly clip as the other girl but in a different color. And to match her hair color she had purple eyes; she was really pretty. "Who are you?" I asked, the girl gracefully jumped from the roof down using her haori to glide down, like a butterfly. "My name is Shinobu Kocho, and I am the insect hashira." She stated, "And you?" She asked. "I am Y/N L/N, rank Kanoe." I stated, "Okay then Y/N, will you please answer my question?" she asked. "Right! Sorry, I didn't want to lay in bed and do nothing, so I decided to go for a brisk walk, I apologize if that was something I wasn't supposed to do." I said, she looked at me smiling, her expression hadn't changed at all. "I guess that was okay, but your injuries aren't healed enough yet so I'm going to have to ask you to go back to bed." She stated, "Of course, thank you." I bowed slightly and went back to my room.

   The next day I woke up and Shinobu had assigned a girl to take care of me, so I waited for her. As soon as she walked in, I recognized her, "Hey, you're that girl from final selection!" I stated as she stared at me, "Yea... I saw you and your friend there." She said nervously clearly not wanting to continue the conversation. "Wait what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be slaying demons?" I asked, "Yea, that didn't work out for me." She says in a sad tone. "Oh well, I'm glad you're safe at least." I say smiling at her, she smiled back and continued her work. Over the next two weeks the girl, whose name is Aoi, took care of me and we became good friends, and at the end of the week Enya had woken up. I ran to her room and almost broke the door down. When I saw her I started crying, I ran up to her and hugged her with all my strength. "I thought you were gonna die!" I said crying, "You can't get rid of me that easy." She said as she hugged back, "Y/N, you're hugging too tight." She stated, "No I'm not." I responded, relieved she was alive.

    A few days after she woke up, Aoi told me I was recovered enough to begin my rehabilitation training. That day I woke up, ate, and she led me to where it would take place. She gave me a quick rundown and we got started, first the butterfly triplets would help me stretch out my body. Then I would practice regaining my reflexes by splashing a cup of medicine battling with either Aoi or Kanao which was the girl who I had seen next to the cherry blossom tree. Apparently, she didn't talk at all unless she flipped a coin to decide too. She was also Shinobu's younger sister and was going to take final selection the following year. And finally, I would go against them again in a game of tag.

   After about a week I had beaten Aoi in the reflex and tag trainings, but I still couldn't beat Kanao, her reflexes were amazing, and she was fast. As I was outside in the garden one day the butterfly triplets saw me and came over to talk to me, their names were Kiyo, Sumi, and Naho. "Hello Miss Y/N!" Said Sumi, "Hi girls, what's up?" "Well, we just wanted to know if you knew how to do total concentration constant." Asked Naho, "Constant?" I said confused. "Yes, doing total concentration constant can make you stronger over time." Kiyo responded, I was able to keep doing total concentration breathing for an entire battle, which is about two hours so at least I had somewhere to start. "Miss Kanao practices by breaking a gourd!" Sumi says, "She breaks it with only her breathing?!" "Actually, she can break one this big!" Naho says as she pulls out a gourd almost as big as Kanao herself. "Wow, that girl is something else." I say, "Well I'm going to head to my room, thanks girls." I add as I head back to my room.

   The next three weeks were the same routine with training sessions that involved anything I could think of to get stronger, lifting boulders, daily runs, rehabilitation training, and of course total concentration breathing constant. After a month I had finally been able to beat Kanao in both of the exercises and I was able to blow up the gourd she was able too. I started going on missions again, sadly alone because Enya was still training. She was feeling better after a month.

   Over the next two months we decided to stay at the butterfly mansion, with Shinobu's permission of course. We would train when we were there and go on missions when they were assigned. Shinobu spent some time with us and even helped me train sometimes, in her, I saw my mother I was grateful she would take care of us. It had been a year since we had become Demon slayers and I thought we had gotten pretty strong, and by the end of that year I was 13.
