You look good like this.

My arms crossed tightly against my chest, feeling every minute stimulation on my tired body; from the vein running along my wrist to the wire of the bra against the sensitive skin underneath my breasts. I could feel my heart as it pumped with the adrenaline spurred by a fear of being prematurely found by the media in the state I was in. My breath made a small cloud in the still air. The cold air raised the soft downy hair on my legs as I sat with my legs curled underneath me, my body concealed by the table as I lay in wait for him to return.

Exposed and reliant on our newfound love. But was it enough? Could he truly convince his strict father into getting my clothes back?

"What are you going to do now?" A soft high-pitched voice whispered in earnest by my ear, the little fox kwami looking at me with an uncharacteristically worried expression.

"Sit here and wait. What else can I do?" I let Trixx settle herself in my palm as I spoke to her, smoothing a finger over the soft fur on the top of her head. "I trust Adrien. He'll be back."

Trixx shivered slightly in my palm. "What about Chat?"

"I still like him, he's—something else. I think I've always wanted him, since I met him. But I can't have him." I gestured at my body, correcting myself. "Not like this, anyway. As Rena... that's different. As her, we could be—we are more."

"So, both?"

I smiled, sharing a toothy grin with the kwami. "Both. Just... at different times."

"I just don't want you to get hurt." Trixx pulled my thumb over her abdomen, using it to warm her tiny body. Her smile was strangely knowing. "Having a double life is hard. Especially falling in love with two men."

I nodded, frowning at the low temperature affecting her. "I know."

"But," Trixx opened an eye innocently, her changed expression dripping in mock innocence. "Luka, hm?"

"It's not like that," I sighed, rolling an eye at her trickery. "He's sweet, but not for me. We're just friends."

"You said the same with Adrien."

I gave her a pointed look. "It's different. I mean it this time."

Heels clicked against the floor in the corridor past the kitchen, leading my movements to still.

"I fucking hate that bitch," I cursed under my breath, only loud enough for the fox kwami to hear.

Trixx frowned. "Was it intentional?"

"She had to have known the room was mine."

"How could Lila have snuck into your dressing room unnoticed? Do you think she was working with anyone?"

"Gabriel hired her, but a scandal like this is bad publicity." I tapped a finger against my lip thoughtfully. "Lila could've used her security clearance to do it, without him noticing."

"A personal agenda? Why?"

I looked down at the kwami in my hands, shrugging unhelpfully. "Jealousy?"

"Of what?"

I narrowed my eyes in thought, trying to better understand her. "My relationship with Adrien, my career..."

The door swung open and I flinched, letting out an unsteady breath as I heard Adrien quietly call my name.

Trixx looked at me cautiously, trying to speak one last time before our conversation was cut short for fear of being discovered. As kind as Adrien was, I couldn't let him know my secret. It was mine to guard and hold close to my chest, otherwise I could risk losing my miraculous. Or endanger the world come Hawkmoth possibly finding out.
