After Saturday's events, Sunday went by smoothly. You continued emailing Robby, and still trying to keep the bond. Miles had been texting Sam, making sure she was okay. Sam claims she was, and Miles knew it was no better to nag her about it.
Monday was usually school, you and Miles had gotten pretty tight schedules because it was junior year. You and Miles got dropped off by your mom, and met up with Demetri by the lockers. You were self conscious about your black eye, as you couldn't cover it up even if you've tried.
Your mother (jokingly?) advised to threaten the people who teased about it by threatening to give them one like yours. Out of school—of course.
Your locker was far away from the boys, but your books were already in your backpack because you took it home for the weekend. By now, you were just straying near them because you didn't see any other girl friends. Sam texted she'd be absent today (much to the Collymores' disliking), Moon and Yas were off to their classes already, again, busy junior year.
Miles was helping out Demetri getting stuff from his locker, you were making sure no one was staring at your black eye.
"What's up, Miguel?" You three heard the name.
"He's back already?" Your eyebrows furrow, noticing his figure. It's fortunate that the surgery did well, as he was now walking without any wheelchair.
"Miguel?" Demetri asked, closing up his locker.
"Yeah, he's coming up to us—actually more like you, Demetri—right now," Miles says.
Demetri turned around to see Miles was a man of his word. "Hey, Comeback Kid! Welcome back!" Demetri greeted Miguel. "I hope to make a similar triumphant return to the land of the mobile appendage masses," he gestured to his cast.
You and Miles had joined Demetri, making sure you didn't block any parts of the hallway. "Congrats on the surgery," you greeted Miguel. Miles kept his mouth shut, the two haven't properly met, even though Miles helped raise money for his surgery.
Miguel looked at your face, your black eye was the most prominent thing. "Thank you, Y/N," Miguel smiled back, but still concerned with your bruise. Miguel looked down at Demetri's cast after, which had two signatures already on it (you and Miles'). "What's up with the cast and the black eye?"
"Proximal radius fracture," answered Demetri.
"Got into a fight," you replied.
"How'd you break your arm?" Miguel asked. "Wait who was involved in this fight? What happened?"
You three glanced at each other. Miguel had missed out on a lot, and it's good he didn't get involved with any of it—he had enough to deal with. "You've got a lot to catch up with," you said, and Miguel's face turned even more confused.
